4. Setup Guide

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the scale unit on a firm, level, and stable surface, free from vibrations and drafts. Ensure adequate space around the scale for operation.
  3. Platter Installation: Gently place the stainless steel platter onto the scale base. Ensure it sits securely and does not wobble.
  4. Power Connection:
    • AC Power: Connect the provided AC adapter to the scale's power input port and then plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
    • Battery Power: If using batteries (not included), open the battery compartment, insert 6 x 1.5V batteries (e.g., D-cell) according to the polarity markings, and close the compartment.
  5. Initial Power On: Press the POWER button to turn on the scale. The display will perform a self-test and then show '0.00' or '0.0'.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Weighing

  1. Power On/Off: Press the POWER button to turn the scale on or off.
  2. Zero Function: If the display does not show '0.00' when the platter is empty, press the ZERO button to reset it to zero. This compensates for minor weight variations on the platter.
  3. Tare Function: To weigh an item in a container, first place the empty container on the platter. Press the TARE button. The display will reset to '0.00'. Now, place the item to be weighed into the container; the display will show only the net weight of the item.
  4. Unit Switching: Press the UNIT button to cycle through available weighing units: Lb (pounds), g (grams), kg (kilograms), oz (ounces).
  5. Weighing Items: Place the item(s) to be weighed directly on the platter or in a tared container. Read the weight displayed on the LCD.

5.2 POS Interface (RS-232)

The CAS SW-RS scale features an RS-232 interface for communication with Point of Sale (POS) systems or Electronic Cash Registers (ECRs). This allows for seamless data transfer of weight measurements.
