  2. Antenna Connection: Connect a properly tuned CB antenna to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. Ensure the connection is secure. Never transmit without an antenna connected.
  3. Power Connection:
    • For vehicle use, connect the lighter plug to your vehicle's 12V accessory socket.
    • For base station use, connect the power cord to a regulated 13.2V DC power supply capable of providing at least 2 Amps. Observe correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
  4. Microphone Connection: Plug the microphone cable into the dedicated microphone jack on the front panel of the radio.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off and Volume: Turn the Volume knob clockwise to power on the radio. Continue turning to adjust the listening volume. Turn counter-clockwise until it clicks to power off.
  2. Channel Selection: Use the UP/DOWN buttons on the microphone to select your desired operating channel (1-40).
  3. Squelch (SQ) / Automatic Squelch (ASQ):
    • Manual Squelch (SQ): Rotate the SQ/ASQ knob clockwise until the background noise disappears. This sets the threshold for receiving signals.
    • Automatic Squelch (ASQ): Press the SQ/ASQ knob (or a dedicated ASQ button if present) to activate ASQ. This automatically adjusts the squelch level for optimal reception.
  4. AM/FM Modulation: Press the A/F button to switch between Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency Modulation (FM) modes. The selected mode will be indicated on the display.
  5. Transmitting: To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.

Advanced Features

  • RF Gain (RFG): Press the RFG button to adjust the receiver's sensitivity. This can be useful in areas with strong local signals to prevent overload or in weak signal areas to boost reception.
  • VOX (Voice Operated Transmit): The VOX function allows you to transmit by speaking into the microphone without pressing the PTT button. Refer to the radio's specific menu or button combination for activating and adjusting VOX sensitivity.
  • Emergency Channel (EMG): Press the EMG button to quickly switch to pre-programmed emergency channels (typically Channel 9 for emergency calls and Channel 19 for highway information). Press again to return to the previous channel.
  • Channel Scan: Activate the scan function (refer to specific button/menu if not dedicated) to automatically scan through active channels. The radio will stop on an active channel and resume scanning after a few seconds of inactivity.
  • Keypad Lock: This feature prevents accidental changes to settings or channels. Refer to the manual for the specific button combination to activate/deactivate the keypad lock.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your CRT One V CB Radio:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (antenna, power, microphone) for tightness and corrosion.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the radio in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Antenna SWR: Regularly check your antenna's Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) to ensure it is properly tuned. High SWR can damage the radio's output stage.
