4.1. Controls and Indicators
- Power Button: Turns the device on/off.
- Magnification Setting Button: Adjusts the magnification level (5x, 7x, 9x, 12x).
- Contrast Mode Button: Cycles through different color viewing modes (full color, black on white, white on black, black on yellow, yellow on black).

5. Setup
5.1. Charging the Device
- Connect the provided power adapter to the charging port on the SmartLux Digital.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- The device will begin charging. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.
- The operating time on a full charge is approximately 2.5 hours.
5.2. Initial Power On
Press and hold the Power Button until the screen illuminates. The device will start in its default viewing mode.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: Press the Power Button to turn the device on or off.
- Positioning for Reading: Place the device on a flat surface with the stand fully extended. This position is ideal for reading documents.
- Positioning for Writing: Place the device on a flat surface with the stand in its half-extended position. This allows space for writing underneath the device.
- Hand-held Mode: The device can also be used in hand-held mode for flexible viewing, offering even less magnification than the fixed settings.
6.2. Adjusting Magnification
Press the Magnification Setting Button to cycle through the available magnification levels: 5x, 7x, 9x, and 12x.
6.3. Changing Color Modes
Press the Contrast Mode Button to switch between the following viewing modes:
- Full Color
- Black on White
- White on Black
- Black on Yellow
- Yellow on Black
6.4. Capturing Images
Press the Image Capture Button to take a snapshot of the current view. The device can store up to 20 images.
6.5. Adjusting LED Illumination
The two small SMD-LEDs on the underside of the device can be switched off. This is useful when viewing other backlit displays, such as cell phones, to prevent screen glare and improve readability.
7. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning the Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as the screen is hard-coated for protection and has an anti-glare film.
- Cleaning the Casing: Wipe the device casing with a soft, damp cloth.
