Upon receiving your Montblanc Timewalker watch, carefully remove it from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. The watch is supplied in a protective box, which may vary in design from the one shown in the image.

2.2 Winding the Watch

Your Montblanc Timewalker watch is equipped with an automatic movement. While it winds itself through the motion of your wrist, it is recommended to manually wind it if it has stopped or has not been worn for an extended period (e.g., 72 hours, which is its power reserve).

  1. Unscrew the crown (if it is a screw-down crown) by turning it counter-clockwise until it springs free.
  2. Pull the crown out to position 1 (first click).
  3. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times to fully wind the mainspring.
  4. Push the crown back to its original position and screw it down clockwise to ensure water resistance.

2.3 Setting the Time and Date

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable) and pull it out to position 2 (second click). The seconds hand will stop.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the desired time. To avoid damaging the movement, it is advisable to set the date when the hour hand is not between 9 PM and 3 AM.
  3. Pull the crown out to position 3 (third click).
  4. Turn the crown to set the date.
  5. Once the time and date are set, push the crown back to position 0 and screw it down firmly to maintain water resistance.

3. Operating the Chronograph and Flyback Functions

Your watch features a chronograph for measuring elapsed time and a flyback function for rapid consecutive timing.

3.1 Chronograph Operation

The chronograph is controlled by two pushers, typically located at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock.

  1. Start: Press the upper pusher (at 2 o'clock) to start the chronograph seconds hand.
  2. Stop: Press the upper pusher again to stop the chronograph. Read the elapsed time from the central chronograph seconds hand and the sub-dials (60 seconds and 24 hours).
  3. Reset: Press the lower pusher (at 4 o'clock) to reset all chronograph hands to zero.

3.2 Flyback Function

The flyback function allows for immediate restarting of the chronograph without needing to stop and reset it first. This is particularly useful for timing consecutive events.

  1. While the chronograph is running, press the lower pusher (at 4 o'clock).
  2. The chronograph hands will instantly fly back to zero and immediately begin timing a new event.

4. Care and Maintenance

4.1 Water Resistance

Your Montblanc Timewalker watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). This rating means it is suitable for splashes or brief immersion in water, but not for swimming, diving, or showering. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down to maintain water resistance.

  • Do not operate the crown or pushers when the watch is wet or submerged.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes.
  • Have the water resistance seals checked periodically (e.g., every 2-3 years) by an authorized service center.

4.2 Cleaning

To clean your watch, use a soft, dry cloth. For the titanium case, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, especially on the leather strap.

The grey leather strap should be kept dry and away from direct sunlight or extreme humidity to prevent damage and discoloration.

4.3 Service and Storage

For optimal performance, it is recommended to have your watch serviced by an authorized Montblanc service center every 3-5 years. When not wearing your watch, store it in its original box or a watch winder to keep the automatic movement running.
