1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Ibiza Sound DISCO8B Speaker System. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your new speakers. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

The Ibiza Sound DISCO8B is a pair of trapezoidal DJ speakers, also known as Cluster speakers, designed for enhanced bass performance. Each 2-way speaker features a 20 cm (8-inch) woofer and a 185 x 80 mm medium/tweeter. Constructed from durable wood and protected by a full metal grille, the speakers are finished with an anthracite carpet covering. They are equipped with two Marshall-type transport handles, a standard 35 mm pole mount slot, and four isolation pads for stability.

2. Safety Instructions

To prevent fire, electric shock, or product damage, always follow these basic safety precautions:

  • Read all instructions before operating the speakers.
  • Do not expose the speakers to rain or moisture.
  • Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  • Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  • Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  • Ensure proper impedance matching with your amplifier to prevent damage to both the speakers and the amplifier.
  • Avoid prolonged listening at high volume levels to prevent hearing damage.

5. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and safety.

5.1 Placement

  • Place speakers on a stable, flat surface or mount them on compatible 35mm speaker stands.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the speakers. Do not place them in enclosed spaces.
  • For best sound dispersion, position speakers at ear level when possible.

5.2 Connections

The DISCO8B speakers are passive and require an external amplifier. Ensure your amplifier's output power and impedance match the speaker's specifications.

  1. Turn off your amplifier before making any connections.
  2. Connect speaker cables from the amplifier's speaker output terminals to the DISCO8B speaker's input terminals. You can use either screw terminals or banana plugs.
  3. Ensure correct polarity: connect the positive (+) terminal of the amplifier to the positive (+) terminal of the speaker, and the negative (-) terminal of the amplifier to the negative (-) terminal of the speaker. Incorrect polarity will result in poor sound quality.
  4. Secure all connections to prevent accidental disconnections or short circuits.

6. Operating Instructions

Once connected, follow these steps to operate your speaker system:

  1. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and correctly polarized.
  2. Set the volume control on your amplifier to its minimum level.
  3. Power on your amplifier.
  4. Gradually increase the volume to a comfortable listening level. Avoid pushing the amplifier into clipping (distortion), as this can damage the speakers.
  5. When finished, lower the volume on your amplifier before powering it off.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help prolong the life of your speakers.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the speakers. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: If storing the speakers for an extended period, keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically check speaker cables and connections for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Protection: The metal grille and corners provide good protection, but avoid dropping or subjecting the speakers to heavy impacts.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your speakers, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution

  • Amplifier not powered on
  • Incorrect or loose speaker connections

  • Inspect speaker cables for cuts or frayed wires. Replace if damaged.
Weak bass response
  • Incorrect speaker polarity
