UltraCool CP70 Portable Evaporative Cooler Instruction Manual

Model: CP70

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the UltraCool CP70 Portable Evaporative Cooler. This unit is designed to provide efficient cooling in dry, arid climates for areas up to 350 square feet, such as patios, decks, garages, or workshops. It operates by drawing warm, dry air over water-saturated media, which cools the air through evaporation before circulating it into your space. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating your cooler to ensure safe and optimal performance.

  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  • Do not immerse the unit, plug, or cord in water or other liquids.
  • Always unplug the cooler from the power outlet before filling, cleaning, or performing any maintenance.
  • Do not allow children to operate or play with the evaporative cooler.

4. Setup

The UltraCool CP70 requires no assembly. Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Placement: Position the cooler on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated area. For optimal performance, ensure there is an open window or door nearby to allow for proper air circulation and prevent humidity buildup.
  2. Fill Water Reservoir: Locate the water fill port. Carefully fill the 6-gallon reservoir with clean, cool water. You may add ice to the reservoir for enhanced cooling effect. Do not overfill beyond the maximum fill line.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 115-volt electrical outlet.
  4. Initial Operation: Allow the rigid media to become fully saturated with water for approximately 15-20 minutes before turning on the fan for cooling.

5. Operating Instructions

The CP70 features digital controls for easy operation. The control panel is located on the top of the unit.

  • Power Button: Press to turn the unit ON or OFF.
  • Speed Button: Cycle through the 3 available fan speeds (Low, Medium, High).
  • Pump Button: Activates or deactivates the water pump for evaporative cooling. The pump must be ON for cooling to occur.
  • Oscillate Button: Activates or deactivates the oscillation feature, which swings the air vents to distribute cool air across a wider area.
  • Timer Button: Set the desired operating time for the unit. The cooler will automatically turn off after the set time.
  • Adjustable Air Vents: Manually adjust the direction of the airflow using the horizontal and vertical louvers.

A remote control is provided for convenient operation from a distance. Ensure batteries are installed correctly in the remote control.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your evaporative cooler.

  1. Daily/Weekly Cleaning: Regularly check the water reservoir. If using hard water, mineral deposits (lime) may accumulate. Drain and rinse the reservoir frequently to prevent buildup.
  2. Media Pad Cleaning: The rigid media pads should be inspected periodically. If they appear clogged with mineral deposits, they may need to be cleaned or replaced. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for media pad maintenance.
  3. Fan Blade Cleaning: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the fan blades. Unplug the unit and carefully clean the fan blades with a soft cloth.
  4. Draining and Storage: Before storing the unit for an extended period, especially during off-season, completely drain the water reservoir and allow the media pads to dry thoroughly to prevent mold and mildew growth. Store the unit in a dry, cool place.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your UltraCool CP70, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Unit Not Turning On: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Ensure the power button has been pressed.
  • No Cool Air: Verify that the water pump is activated. Check the water level in the reservoir; it may need refilling. Ensure the media pads are saturated.
  • Water Leakage: Ensure the unit is placed on a level surface. Check for any obstructions in the water reservoir or drainage system. If persistent, contact customer support.
  • Reduced Airflow: Clean the air filter and media pads if they appear clogged. Ensure air inlets and outlets are not obstructed.
  • Unusual Noise: Check for any loose parts or foreign objects inside the unit. If the noise persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.

For problems not listed here, or if solutions do not resolve the issue, please contact UltraCool customer support.
