Setup

1. Powering the Machine

The Quickfix machine can be powered in two ways:

• AC Power: Connect the provided power cord to the machine's power input jack and then to a standard electrical outlet.
• Battery Power: (If applicable) Insert the required number of AA batteries into the battery compartment located on the underside of the machine. Ensure correct polarity.

2. Installing the Needle

1. Ensure the machine is turned off and unplugged.
2. Loosen the needle clamp screw.
3. Insert the new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, pushing it up as far as it will go.
4. Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.

3. Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for good stitch quality.

Upper Threading:

1. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
2. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
3. Pass the thread down through the tension discs.
4. Bring the thread up and through the take-up lever.
5. Guide the thread down through the needle bar thread guide.
6. Thread the needle from front to back using the needle threader or manually.

Bobbin Winding and Insertion (Top Drop-In Bobbin System):

1. Place an empty bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle.
2. Follow the bobbin winding path indicated on the machine.
3. Start the machine to wind the bobbin. Stop when full.
4. Open the bobbin cover plate.
5. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
6. Pull the bobbin thread through the tension spring and out to the side.
7. Replace the bobbin cover plate.

Operating Instructions

1. Stitch Selection

The Singer Quickfix features 4 built-in stitches. Use the Stitch Selector dial (refer to Figure 1) to choose your desired stitch:

• Straight Stitch: For basic seams and topstitching.
• Zigzag Stitch: For finishing raw edges and decorative purposes.
• Blind Hem Stitch: For creating invisible hems.
• Rampart Stitch: A specialized stitch for specific mending or decorative needs.

2. Dual Speed Control

The machine offers dual speed control (Low 'L' and High 'H') to suit your sewing comfort and project requirements. Adjust the speed switch located on the front of the machine (refer to Figure 1) to your preferred setting.

3. Reverse Sewing

To secure your stitches at the beginning and end of a seam, press and hold the reverse lever (refer to Figure 1) while sewing. The machine will sew backward. Release the lever to resume forward sewing.

4. Using the Free Arm

The free arm feature allows you to easily sew cylindrical items such as cuffs, collars, and sleeves. To access the free arm, slide off the accessory storage compartment located at the base of the machine.

5. Convenient Ruler

A ruler is conveniently marked on the machine's base plate to assist with precise measurements during your sewing projects.
