Operating Instructions

Focusing:

The Safari UltraSharp binoculars feature a fast close focus system. To focus, simply turn the central focusing wheel until the image appears sharp and clear. This system allows for quick adjustments from close-up objects (as near as 2 meters) to distant horizons without extensive turning.

General Usage:

Hold the binoculars steady to minimize image shake. For extended viewing, consider resting your elbows on a stable surface or using a tripod adapter (sold separately) for maximum stability. The compact design allows for comfortable one-handed operation.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Lenses:

Use the provided cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lenses. For stubborn smudges, use a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optics. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the lens coatings.

Cleaning the Body:

Wipe the rubber armor and body with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure the binoculars are completely dry before storing them. The NBR rubber armor is designed for durability and grip.

Storage:

Store the binoculars in their protective carrying bag when not in use to prevent dust and scratches. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Waterproof and Fogproof Care:

While the binoculars are waterproof (IPX4) and fogproof, it is recommended to dry them thoroughly if they get wet. Avoid submerging them in water for extended periods. The nitrogen-filled construction prevents internal fogging.

Troubleshooting

Blurry Image:

  • Ensure the central focusing wheel is properly adjusted for your viewing distance.
  • Check that the interpupillary distance is correctly set for your eyes.
  • Verify that the eyecups are in the correct position (up for non-eyeglass wearers, down for eyeglass wearers).

Internal Fogging:

The binoculars are nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging. If internal fogging occurs, it may indicate a seal compromise. Contact Steiner customer support for assistance.

Difficulty Adjusting Focus:

The focusing mechanism may feel stiff initially. Continued use should smooth it out. If it remains excessively stiff or becomes difficult to turn, contact customer support.
