Setup and Initial Adjustments

1. Attaching the Neck Strap

Thread the provided neck strap through the strap lugs on each side of the binocular body. Ensure the strap is securely fastened before use to prevent accidental drops.

2. Adjusting Interpupillary Distance (IPD)

The interpupillary distance is the space between your pupils. To adjust, hold the binoculars firmly and bend the body until you see a single, clear circular field of view. This ensures both optical paths are aligned with your eyes.

3. Adjusting Eyecups

• For non-eyeglass wearers: Twist the eyecups counter-clockwise until they are fully extended. This positions your eyes at the optimal distance from the ocular lenses.
• For eyeglass wearers: Twist the eyecups clockwise until they are fully retracted. This allows you to see the full field of view without your eyeglasses interfering.

4. Focusing

1. Choose a distant object to focus on.
2. Cover the right objective lens (front lens) with your hand.
3. Look through the left eyepiece with your left eye and rotate the central focus wheel until the image is sharp.
4. Uncover the right objective lens and cover the left objective lens.
5. Look through the right eyepiece with your right eye and rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp. Do not use the central focus wheel for this step.
6. Your binoculars are now adjusted for your eyes. For subsequent viewing, only use the central focus wheel to adjust for different distances.

Operating Your Binoculars

General Use

Once focused, simply aim your binoculars at the desired subject. The 10x magnification provides a detailed view, and the 50mm objective lenses gather ample light for bright images, even in low-light conditions. The rubber armor provides a secure grip and protection.

Tripod Mounting

For extended viewing periods or to achieve maximum stability, your Bushnell Legacy 10 binoculars are tripod adaptable. Locate the threaded socket on the front hinge of the binoculars (usually covered by a cap). Remove the cap and screw in a standard binocular tripod adapter (sold separately), then attach it to a photographic tripod.

Maintenance and Care

Cleaning Lenses

Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. First, gently brush away any dust or debris. Then, apply a small amount of lens cleaning fluid to the cloth (not directly to the lens) and wipe the lens surface in a circular motion. Avoid using abrasive cloths, facial tissues, or paper towels, as these can scratch the lens coatings.

Cleaning Body

Wipe the rubber armored body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents, as these can damage the finish.

Storage

Store your binoculars in a cool, dry place when not in use. Keep them in their protective case to prevent dust accumulation and physical damage. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations.

Troubleshooting

• Blurry Image:

  Ensure the central focus wheel is adjusted correctly for the distance to your subject. Also, verify that the diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece is set for your individual vision (refer to "Focusing" in the Setup section).
• Double Image:

  This usually indicates incorrect interpupillary distance. Adjust the hinge of the binoculars until you see a single, merged image (refer to "Adjusting Interpupillary Distance" in the Setup section).

• Difficulty Focusing:

  Check for obstructions on the objective or ocular lenses. Ensure the eyecups are correctly positioned for your viewing preference (with or without eyeglasses).

• Internal Fogging:

  While your binoculars are waterproof and nitrogen-purged to prevent internal fogging, extreme temperature changes can sometimes cause temporary external condensation. Allow the binoculars to acclimate to the ambient temperature. If internal fogging persists, contact customer support.
