Product Features

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the timer from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Placement: Choose a suitable outdoor location that is protected from direct heavy rain and allows the photocell sensor to detect ambient light accurately. Ensure the timer is positioned where the connected devices can reach the outlets.
  3. Mounting (Optional): The timer features a hanging tab. Use a screw (not included) to securely mount the timer to a wall or post, ensuring the outlets face downwards to prevent water accumulation.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the timer into a standard 125V AC grounded outlet. For outdoor use, this outlet must be GFCI protected.
  5. Initial Display: Upon plugging in, the LED display will illuminate.

Operating Instructions

The Stanley 31221 offers three primary operating modes: Dusk-to-Dawn, Dusk-Timed, and Countdown.

Mode Selection

Press the MODE button (typically a small button near the display) to cycle through the available settings. The LED display will indicate the selected mode or time duration.

1. Dusk-to-Dawn Operation

In this mode, the connected devices will turn ON automatically when it gets dark (dusk) and turn OFF when it gets light (dawn).

  1. Plug in the timer.
  2. Press the MODE button repeatedly until the display shows "DD" or a similar indicator for Dusk-to-Dawn.
  3. Connect your devices to the grounded outlets.
  4. The timer will now operate automatically based on ambient light.

2. Dusk-Timed Operation (1-9 Hours)

In this mode, the connected devices will turn ON at dusk and remain ON for a set duration (1 to 9 hours), then turn OFF.

  1. Plug in the timer.
  2. Press the MODE button repeatedly until the display shows a number (e.g., "1H", "2H", ..., "9H"). This number represents the hours the timer will stay ON after dusk.
  3. To adjust the duration, press the SET button (or the same MODE button if it cycles through hours) until the desired number of hours (1-9) is displayed.
  4. Connect your devices.
  5. The timer will now activate at dusk for the programmed duration.

3. Countdown Mode (1-9 Hours)

This mode allows you to turn the devices ON immediately for a set duration (1 to 9 hours), after which they will turn OFF.

  1. Plug in the timer.
  2. Press the MODE button repeatedly until the display shows "ON" or a similar indicator for immediate activation.
  3. To set the countdown duration, press the SET button (or the same MODE button if it cycles through hours) until the desired number of hours (1-9) is displayed.
  4. Connect your devices.
  5. The devices will turn ON immediately and remain ON for the set countdown period.
