Seiko KX373B Radio Wave Analog Wall Clock

Instruction Manual

Model: KX373B | Brand: SEIKO

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Seiko KX373B Radio Wave Analog Wall Clock. This clock is designed to receive radio waves containing accurate time information, automatically correcting its display for precise timekeeping. When radio waves are not received, the clock operates with quartz accuracy.

Please read these instructions carefully before using your clock and retain them for future reference.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

Locate the battery compartment on the back of the clock. Insert two AA manganese batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). The clock requires 2 x AA batteries, with an approximate battery life of 2 years.

2. Initial Time Setting and Radio Wave Reception

After battery installation, the clock will attempt to receive radio waves to set the time automatically. For optimal reception, place the clock near a window. Avoid locations with potential radio interference.

  • Optimal Placement: Near a window, away from electronic devices.
  • Avoid: Inside buildings with thick walls, basements, near high-voltage lines, TV towers, train rails, TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, computers, fax machines, construction sites, airports, or areas with significant radio interference. Metal furniture can also obstruct reception.

3. Mounting Instructions

The clock comes with hardware for mounting on wood pillars, thick walls, and gypsum board (drywall). Select the appropriate hardware for your wall structure.

  • For wood pillars or thick walls, use the provided wood screw.
  • For gypsum board (drywall), use the provided gypsum board hanger and nails.
  • Caution: Do not use the provided hardware on concrete walls or other unsuitable surfaces. Purchase commercially available hangers for such wall types.

Operating Instructions

Radio Correction Function

The clock automatically receives radio signals to correct the time. This ensures high accuracy. If radio signals are not received, the clock will maintain time with its internal quartz movement.

Sweep Second Hand

The clock features a smooth, continuous sweep second hand movement, providing a silent operation.

Alarm Function

This model includes an alarm function. Refer to the specific controls on the back of the clock for setting and activating the alarm.

Sleep Second Hand

The sleep second hand feature may temporarily stop the second hand during certain periods (e.g., nighttime) to conserve battery life and ensure silent operation. The second hand will resume normal movement when the feature deactivates.

Battery Replacement Notification

When the battery level is low, the second hand will stop at the "12 o'clock" position to indicate that the batteries need to be replaced. Replace both AA batteries promptly to ensure continued accurate operation.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the clock's wooden frame and glass with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the finish.

Battery Care

Replace batteries as soon as the low battery indicator (second hand stopping at 12 o'clock) appears. If the clock will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and potential damage.

Troubleshooting

  • Clock not setting time automatically:
    • Ensure the clock is placed in a location with good radio wave reception (e.g., near a window).
    • Check for potential interference sources (large metal objects, electronic devices, thick walls).
    • Verify that the batteries are fresh and correctly installed.
  • Clock running slow or fast:
    • If radio wave reception is consistently poor, the clock operates on quartz accuracy. Ensure batteries are fresh.
    • Attempt to manually reset the clock or move it to a location with better reception.
  • Second hand stops at 12 o'clock:
    • This indicates low battery power. Replace both AA batteries immediately.
