3. Charging the Watch (Solar Power)
The SEIKO SSC141 is powered by light. The solar cell under the dial converts light into electrical energy, which is then stored in a rechargeable power cell. For optimal performance, ensure the watch is regularly exposed to light.
- Initial Charge: Upon receiving your watch, expose it to bright sunlight for several hours to ensure a full charge.
- Regular Charging: Wear the watch regularly or place it in a location where it receives sufficient light. Avoid prolonged storage in darkness, as this may deplete the power cell.
- Power Reserve: A fully charged watch can operate for approximately 6 months in darkness.

4. Setting the Time and Date
To ensure accurate timekeeping, follow these steps:
- Setting the Time:
- Pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown to adjust the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set (the date changes around midnight).
- Push the crown back in to the normal position.
- Setting the Date:
- Pull the crown out to the first click.
- Turn the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this may damage the movement.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position.
5. Operating the Chronograph
The chronograph function allows for precise timing of events.
- Starting/Stopping: Press the upper pusher (A) to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
- Resetting: While the chronograph is stopped, press the lower pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
- Split Time: To measure split times, press pusher A to start, then pusher B to record a split time. The chronograph will continue running in the background. Press B again to display the current elapsed time. Press A to stop, then B to reset.
6. Using the Alarm
The watch features an alarm function.
- Setting the Alarm:
- Pull the crown out to the first click.
- Turn the crown to set the alarm hands to the desired alarm time.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position.
- Activating/Deactivating: Press the upper pusher (A) to activate or deactivate the alarm. A small indicator on the dial may show the alarm status.
- Alarm Sound: The alarm will sound at the set time for a short duration. Note that the alarm sound may be subtle due to the watch's water resistance design.
7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your SEIKO SSC141 watch.
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For the stainless steel bracelet, a soft brush and mild soapy water can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
- Water Resistance: The watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet), suitable for swimming and snorkeling. It is not suitable for scuba diving. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures or sudden temperature changes.
- Chemicals: Keep the watch away from chemicals, solvents, and cosmetics, as these can damage the case, crystal, or bracelet.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your watch, consider the following common solutions:
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the watch has been sufficiently charged by exposing it to bright light for several hours.
- Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to Section 4 for instructions on how to correctly set the time and date.
- Chronograph/Alarm Not Functioning: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If issues persist, a reset or professional inspection may be required.
- Condensation Inside Crystal: This may indicate a breach in water resistance. Seek professional service immediately to prevent further damage.
