1. Introduction
The Pro'sKit MT-1210 is a compact 3 1/2 digit digital multimeter designed for measuring AC/DC voltage, DC current, resistance, diode, and transistor (hFE) parameters. This manual provides essential information for the safe and proper use of the device, ensuring accurate measurements and extending product longevity.
2. Safety Information
To prevent electric shock or personal injury, and to avoid damage to the meter or the equipment under test, observe the following safety rules:
- Always ensure the test leads are in good condition and free from damage.
- Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked on the meter, between the terminals or between any terminal and earth ground.
- Use extreme caution when working with voltages above 60V DC or 30V AC RMS. Such voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Before making resistance, diode, or continuity measurements, disconnect power to the circuit and discharge all high-voltage capacitors.
- Never connect the meter to a voltage source when the rotary switch is set to current, resistance, or diode mode.
- Replace the battery as soon as the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Do not operate the meter with the case open or if the battery cover is not securely closed.
- If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.

- hFE Socket: For transistor testing (EBCE labeled on the device).
5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the multimeter is turned off and disconnect all test leads.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Unscrew the retaining screw(s) and remove the cover.
- Insert a new 9V battery, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screw(s).
5.2. Connecting Test Leads
- Always connect the black test lead to the "COM" (common) jack.
- For voltage, resistance, and milliampere current measurements, connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack.
- For 10A DC current measurements, connect the red test lead to the "10A" jack.
6. Operating Instructions
Before taking any measurement, ensure the correct function and range are selected on the rotary switch and the test leads are connected to the appropriate jacks.
6.1. DC Voltage Measurement (V=)
- Set the rotary switch to the desired "V=" range (e.g., 200m, 2, 20, 200, 500).
- Connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack and the black test lead to the "COM" jack.
- Connect the test probes across the DC voltage source to be measured.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.
6.2. AC Voltage Measurement (V~)
- Set the rotary switch to the desired "V~" range (e.g., 200, 500).
- Connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack and the black test lead to the "COM" jack.
- Connect the test probes across the AC voltage source to be measured.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.
6.3. DC Current Measurement (A=)
- Set the rotary switch to the desired "A=" range (e.g., 200µA, 2mA, 20mA, 200mA, 10A).
- For measurements up to 200mA, connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack. For 10A measurements, connect the red test lead to the "10A" jack. Connect the black test lead to the "COM" jack.
- Open the circuit where current is to be measured and connect the meter in series with the load.
- Read the current value on the LCD display.
- Caution: Never connect the meter in parallel with a voltage source when in current mode.
6.4. Resistance Measurement (Ω)
- Set the rotary switch to the desired "Ω" range (e.g., 200, 2k, 20k, 200k, 2M).
- Connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack and the black test lead to the "COM" jack.
- Ensure the circuit under test is de-energized and all capacitors are discharged.
- Connect the test probes across the component to be measured.
- Read the resistance value on the LCD display.
6.5. Diode Test
- Set the rotary switch to the diode symbol (often shared with continuity).
- Connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack and the black test lead to the "COM" jack.
- Connect the red probe to the anode and the black probe to the cathode of the diode. The display will show the forward voltage drop.
- Reverse the probes. The display should show "OL" (Open Loop) for a good diode.
6.6. Transistor (hFE) Test
- Set the rotary switch to the "hFE" position.
- Identify if the transistor is NPN or PNP.
- Insert the transistor leads (Emitter, Base, Collector) into the corresponding holes in the hFE socket (labeled EBCE).
- Read the hFE value (DC current gain) on the LCD display.
7. Maintenance
7.1. Cleaning
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is completely dry before use.
7.2. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 9V battery as described in Section 5.1. Prompt battery replacement ensures measurement accuracy.
7.3. Fuse Replacement
If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Refer to the specifications for the correct fuse type. Fuse replacement typically involves opening the back case (after removing the battery) and carefully replacing the blown fuse with one of identical rating.
7.4. Storage
If the meter is not to be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display or faint display | Dead or low battery | Replace the 9V battery. |
| "OL" (Overload) displayed | Measurement exceeds selected range or meter's maximum capacity. | Select a higher range or verify the measurement is within the meter's limits. |
| Incorrect readings | Incorrect function/range selected; poor test lead connection; low battery. | Verify settings, check lead connections, replace battery. |
| Current measurement not working | Blown fuse. | Replace the fuse (refer to Section 7.3). |
