5. Setup

5.1 Placement

Position the projector on a stable, flat surface. Ensure there is sufficient space around the projector for proper ventilation. The projector can be placed on a table, mounted on the ceiling, or used with a compatible tripod.

  • Adjusting Pitch: Use the adjustable feet on the bottom of the projector to fine-tune the vertical angle of the projected image.
  • Projection Distance: The throw ratio is 1.86 - 2.04, allowing flexibility in placement relative to the screen size.

5.2 Connecting Power

  1. Connect the supplied power cable to the projector's power input port.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cable into a grounded electrical outlet.
  3. The power indicator light on the projector will illuminate.

5.3 Connecting Input Sources

The CP-DX300 offers multiple connectivity options:

  • HDMI: Connect an HDMI cable from your source device (e.g., laptop, DVD player, gaming console) to the HDMI input port on the projector. This port is HDCP compliant.
  • VGA (Computer Input): Use a 15-pin mini D-sub cable to connect your computer to either of the two computer input ports.
  • S-Video/Composite/Component Video: Connect older video sources using the respective S-Video (Mini DIN 4-pin), Composite Video (RCA jack), or Component Video (shared with computer inputs) ports.
  • Audio Input: For analog audio, connect a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack cable from your audio source to the Audio Input port.
  • USB: The projector features USB ports for connecting compatible devices or media storage.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the Power button on the projector or the remote control. The lamp will warm up, and the image will appear shortly.
  • Power Off: Press the Power button again. A confirmation message may appear; press Power again to confirm shutdown. The projector will enter a cooling cycle before completely powering off.

6.2 Focus and Keystone Adjustment

  • Focus: Rotate the focus ring on the projector lens until the image appears sharp and clear on the screen.
  • Keystone Correction: Use the keystone adjustment feature (typically found in the projector's menu or via dedicated buttons on the remote) to correct trapezoidal distortion, ensuring a rectangular image. The CP-DX300 supports +/- 30 Degree vertical keystone correction.

6.3 Source Selection

Press the "Source" button on the projector or remote control to cycle through available input sources (HDMI, VGA, S-Video, Composite, etc.) until your desired source is displayed.

6.4 Audio Output

The projector has a built-in 2W speaker. For enhanced audio, connect external speakers or a sound system to the 3.5 mm stereo mini Audio Output jack.

6.5 3D Viewing

The Hitachi CP-DX300 is 3D capable. To enjoy 3D content, you will need compatible 3D glasses and a special graphic card (sold separately) connected to a 3D-enabled source device.

6.6 Wall Color Correction

This feature allows the projector to automatically adjust color output when projecting onto colored walls, ensuring accurate color reproduction without needing a white screen.
