5. Setup

Before operating the sander, ensure it is properly assembled and secured.

5.1 Mounting the Sander

  1. Place the sander on a stable, level workbench.
  2. Secure the sander to the workbench using appropriate bolts or clamps through the mounting holes in the base. This prevents movement during operation.

5.2 Attaching the Work Table and Miter Gauge

  1. Attach the work table to the disc sanding unit using the provided hardware. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  2. Insert the miter gauge into the slot on the work table. Adjust the angle as needed for your project.

5.3 Connecting Dust Extraction

For optimal performance and a cleaner work environment, connect a dust extraction system to the dust port.

  1. Attach the dust port adapter (if provided) to the sander's dust outlet.
  2. Connect a vacuum cleaner hose or dust collector hose to the adapter.

6. Operating Instructions

Always ensure the workpiece is securely held and you are wearing appropriate safety gear before operating the sander.

6.1 General Operation

  1. Plug the sander into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Turn on the sander using the ON/OFF switch.
  3. Allow the sander to reach full speed before applying the workpiece.
  4. Apply light, even pressure when sanding. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can overload the motor and reduce sanding efficiency.
  5. Move the workpiece smoothly across the sanding surface to ensure even material removal and prevent gouging.
  6. When finished, turn off the sander and wait for all moving parts to stop before leaving the machine.

6.2 Using the Belt Sander

  • The belt sander can be used in both horizontal and vertical positions. Adjust the belt unit to the desired angle by loosening the locking knob, setting the angle, and re-tightening.
  • For edge sanding, hold the workpiece firmly against the belt.
  • For surface sanding, move the workpiece evenly across the belt.

6.3 Using the Disc Sander

  • Position the work table at the desired angle relative to the sanding disc.
  • Use the miter gauge for precise angle sanding.
  • Always sand on the downward-rotating side of the disc (left side) to prevent the workpiece from being thrown upwards.
  • Move the workpiece slowly and evenly across the disc.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your sander. Always disconnect the power before performing any maintenance.

7.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, clean the sander thoroughly to remove dust and debris. Use a brush or compressed air.
  • Ensure the dust port is clear and unobstructed.

7.2 Changing the Sanding Belt

  1. Release the belt tension lever.
  2. Remove the old sanding belt.
  3. Install the new belt, ensuring the arrow on the belt matches the direction of rotation indicated on the sander.
  4. Re-engage the tension lever.
  5. Turn the sander on briefly and adjust the belt tracking knob until the belt runs centrally on the rollers.

7.3 Changing the Sanding Disc

  1. Carefully peel off the old sanding disc from the disc plate.
  2. Clean any adhesive residue from the disc plate.
