What's in the Box

Setup

1. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card

Locate the battery/memory card compartment cover on the bottom of the camera. Slide the latch to open the cover. Insert the battery with the correct orientation, ensuring it clicks into place. Insert a compatible SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card into the card slot until it locks. Close the compartment cover securely.

2. Charging the Battery

Connect the camera to a power source using the provided USB cable and power adapter. The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before initial use.

3. Initial Settings

Upon first power-on, you may be prompted to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure these settings.

Operating Your Camera

1. Powering On/Off

Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off. The lens will extend when powered on.

2. Taking Photos

  1. Select a Shooting Mode: Use the MODE button to select your desired shooting mode. Smart AUTO is recommended for beginners, as it automatically optimizes settings for 32 different scenes.
  2. Frame Your Shot: Look through the LCD screen to compose your image.
  3. Focus: Gently press the shutter button halfway down to allow the camera to focus. A green frame will appear when focus is achieved.
  4. Capture: Press the shutter button fully down to take the picture.

3. Recording Videos

The PowerShot A2500 features a dedicated movie button for instant 720p HD video recording. Simply press the Movie Button to start and stop recording. The camera can also record 640x480 VGA video at 30 frames per second.

4. Zoom Function

Utilize the zoom lever around the shutter button to control the 5x optical zoom. Move the lever towards W for wide-angle shots or towards T for telephoto (zoomed-in) shots.

5. Playback and Review

Press the Playback Button (usually indicated by a triangle icon) to review your captured photos and videos on the LCD screen. Use the directional buttons to navigate through your media.

6. Using the Help Button

For quick assistance, press the Help Button on the camera's exterior. This provides on-screen instructions and advice on various camera functions.
