4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified installer.
4.1 Tools Required
- Pencil
- Measuring Tape
- Stud Finder (for wall installations)
- Drywall Saw or Rotary Tool
- Wire Strippers
- Screwdriver (Phillips head)
- Drill (optional, for pilot holes)
- Speaker Wire (appropriate gauge for your amplifier and cable length)
4.2 Speaker Placement
Consider the following when choosing speaker locations:
- Stereo Setup: For a traditional stereo setup, place speakers equidistant from the primary listening position and spaced appropriately for a wide soundstage.
- Surround Sound: For surround sound, refer to your AV receiver's manual for recommended speaker placement (e.g., side surrounds, rear surrounds).
- Obstructions: Avoid placing speakers directly behind furniture or other objects that might block sound.
- Wall/Ceiling Cavity: Ensure there are no electrical wires, plumbing, or other obstructions within the wall or ceiling cavity where you plan to install the speaker.
4.3 Installation Steps
- Prepare the Opening:
Using the provided template, trace the cutout shape onto the desired wall or ceiling surface. Carefully cut out the opening using a drywall saw or rotary tool. Ensure the opening is clean and free of debris.

Figure 1: Front view of the ARCHITECH SC-602F loudspeaker. This image shows the circular speaker with its central tweeter and surrounding woofer cone, all within a dark gray frame. The outer edge of the frame has small circular indentations, likely for mounting.
- Run Speaker Wires:
Route speaker wires from your amplifier/receiver to the speaker opening. Leave enough slack to comfortably connect to the speaker terminals. Ensure wires are rated for in-wall/in-ceiling use if applicable (e.g., CL2 or CL3 rated).
- Connect Speaker Wires:
Strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of the speaker wires. Connect the positive (+) terminal of the speaker to the positive (+) terminal of your amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal of the speaker to the negative (-) terminal of your amplifier. Maintain correct polarity for all speakers in your system.
- Insert and Secure Speaker:
Carefully insert the speaker into the cutout opening. The mounting clamps will automatically swing out as you tighten the screws on the front baffle. Tighten the screws evenly until the speaker is snug against the wall/ceiling. Do not overtighten.
- Attach Grille:
The frameless grille attaches magnetically to the speaker baffle. Align the grille with the speaker and gently press it into place until it snaps securely. The grille can be painted to match your room's decor.
5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, your ARCHITECH SC-602F loudspeakers are ready for use.
5.1 Initial Power-Up
Ensure all speaker connections are secure at both the speaker and amplifier ends. Turn on your amplifier/receiver and select the appropriate audio source. Start with the volume at a low level and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level.
5.2 Tweeter Adjustment
The .75" pivoting dome tweeter allows you to direct the high frequencies towards your primary listening area. Gently push the edge of the tweeter to pivot it in the desired direction. This can help optimize sound imaging and clarity, especially in rooms with challenging acoustics.
5.3 Amplifier Compatibility
These speakers are rated for 40W nominal and 80W maximum power. Ensure your amplifier's output power falls within this range to prevent damage to the speakers or amplifier. The impedance is 8 ohms.
6. Maintenance
Your ARCHITECH SC-602F loudspeakers require minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the speaker grille and surrounding surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
- Grille Removal: If you need to remove the grille (e.g., for painting or accessing the tweeter), use a plastic pry tool or a thin, flat object to carefully pry it off. The magnetic attachment is strong, so gentle, even pressure is recommended.
- Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the speakers to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight, which can degrade performance and lifespan.
