2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before using the device. Proper handling ensures accurate readings and prolongs the life of your tester.

  • Always wear protective eyewear and gloves when handling any chemical reagents or solutions.
  • Avoid direct contact between test solutions and skin, eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Read all instructions and labels on any reagents thoroughly before use.
  • Keep all reagents and testing equipment out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after each use.
  • Dispose of used reagents and equipment according to local regulations.

3. Package Contents

Upon unpacking, ensure all items are present and in good condition:

  • Solaxx SALTDIP™ 2-in-1 Electronic Salt Water Tester Unit
  • Protective Sensor Cap
  • Sample Collection Cup (integrated or separate)
  • 2 AAA Batteries (pre-installed or separate)
  • Instruction Manual / Reference Guide

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The SALTDIP™ tester requires 2 AAA batteries. If not pre-installed, open the battery compartment located at the top of the unit, insert the batteries observing polarity, and securely close the compartment.

4.2 Initial Preparation

Before first use, remove the protective sensor cap. If a small sponge is present inside the cap, ensure it is slightly moistened with clean water before replacing the cap for storage. This helps maintain sensor integrity.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button () to turn the unit on or off. The LCD display will illuminate.

5.2 Selecting Measurement Mode

The SALTDIP™ tester can measure salt content (PPM) and water temperature. Use the 'MODE/CAL' button to cycle through available measurement modes. Ensure 'SALT' is displayed on the screen for salt readings.

5.3 Taking a Measurement

  1. Collect a water sample using the integrated cup or a clean, separate container.
  2. Ensure the sensor probes at the bottom of the tester are clean.
  3. Immerse the sensor end of the tester into the water sample, ensuring the probes are fully submerged but not exceeding the 'MAX IMMERSION LINE' if indicated.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the reading to stabilize on the LCD display.
  5. Record your readings.

6. Understanding Readings

The SALTDIP™ tester provides readings for salt content in Parts Per Million (PPM) and water temperature. Refer to your pool, spa, or aquarium manufacturer's guidelines for ideal salt and temperature ranges.

For swimming pools, a common ideal salt range is typically between 2700-3400 PPM. Readings outside this range may indicate a need for adjustment:

  • < 2700 PPM: Poor disinfection effect.
  • 2700-3400 PPM: Ideal Range.
  • 3400-4500 PPM: Marginally Acceptable.
  • > 4500 PPM: Highly Corrosive.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Sensor

After each use, rinse the sensor probes thoroughly with clean tap water to remove any residue from the tested water. This prevents buildup and ensures accurate future readings.

7.2 Storage

Always replace the protective sensor cap after cleaning. Store the tester in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If the cap contains a sponge, ensure it remains slightly moist to protect the sensor.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate or Inconsistent Readings: Ensure the sensor probes are clean. Re-calibrate the device if necessary (refer to the included reference guide for calibration steps). Check battery levels and replace if low.
  • Dim or Blank LCD Display: This typically indicates low battery power. Replace the 2 AAA batteries.
  • Unit Not Powering On: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.

If issues persist after attempting these troubleshooting steps, please contact customer support.
