Introduction

The Dish Network 20.1 IR Remote Control is designed to operate your Dish Network receiver and a television. This remote functions in Infrared (IR) mode, requiring a direct line of sight between the remote and the device being controlled. It is an upgraded version of the 20.0 remote, featuring expanded codes for compatibility with a wider range of newer televisions.

  • Operates Dish Network receivers in IR mode.
  • Compatible with various television models.
  • Capable of learning codes from other IR remotes.
  • Requires four AAA batteries for operation.

The Dish Network 20.1 remote control requires four (4) AAA batteries.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control.
  2. Slide the cover downwards and lift it off.

2. Pairing with Dish Network Receiver (IR Mode)

The 20.1 remote is designed to control Dish Network receivers in IR mode. For newer receivers like the Hopper and Joey, which may have originally shipped with a UHF remote, you might need to configure the receiver to accept IR commands. Consult your receiver's manual for specific instructions on enabling IR mode.

Typically, the remote will control the Dish receiver automatically once batteries are installed and the receiver is set to IR mode.

3. Programming for Television Control

To control your television's power, volume, and input functions, you will need to program the remote with your TV's code.

  1. Turn on your television.
  2. Press and hold the TV mode button on the remote until all four mode buttons (SAT, TV, DVD, AUX) illuminate.
  3. Release the TV button. The TV button should remain lit.
  4. Enter the 3-digit TV code for your television brand. Refer to the code list provided with your remote or search online for "Dish Network 20.1 TV codes" for your specific TV brand.
  5. After entering the code, the TV button should flash three times and then turn off, indicating successful programming. If it does not flash, repeat the process.
  6. Test the remote by pressing the POWER button to turn off your TV. If it works, the programming is complete. If not, try the next code for your TV brand.

Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or the indicator lights do not illuminate. Always replace all four AAA batteries simultaneously with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

Cleaning

To clean the remote, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the remote's surface or internal components.

Troubleshooting

Remote Not Responding

  • Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the Dish receiver/TV. Obstructions can block the infrared signal.
  • Check the batteries. Replace them if they are old or depleted.
  • Verify that the correct mode button (SAT for receiver, TV for television) is selected before pressing a command.
  • If controlling a Dish receiver, ensure the receiver is configured for IR mode, especially if it originally came with a UHF remote.

TV Not Programming

  • Double-check the TV code entered. Ensure it matches your television brand.
  • Try all available codes for your TV brand from the provided list.
  • Ensure you are holding the TV mode button long enough for all four mode buttons to light up before releasing.
  • If the TV button does not flash three times after entering the code, the code was not accepted. Repeat the programming steps carefully.
