Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Steinberg UR22 audio interface:

1. Input Gain Adjustment: Use the 'INPUT 1 GAIN' and 'INPUT 2 GAIN' knobs on the front panel to adjust the input level for your microphones or instruments. Monitor the 'PEAK' indicators; they should light up only occasionally during the loudest parts of your signal to avoid clipping.
2. Phantom Power (+48V): Activate the +48V switch on the rear panel only when using condenser microphones that require phantom power. Ensure the microphone is connected before activating or deactivating phantom power to prevent damage.
3. Hi-Z Input: If connecting an electric guitar or bass to Input 2, ensure the 'Hi-Z' switch on the front panel is engaged. This optimizes the input impedance for passive instrument pickups.
4. Direct Monitoring (Mix Knob): The 'MIX' knob allows you to blend the direct input signal with the playback signal from your DAW. Turn it towards 'INPUT' for more direct signal (zero-latency monitoring) and towards 'DAW' for more playback signal. This is crucial for monitoring without delay during recording.
5. Headphone Level: Adjust the 'PHONES' knob to control the volume of your headphones independently.
6. Main Output Level: Use the 'OUTPUT' knob to control the overall volume sent to your studio monitors.
