5. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your subwoofer. It is highly recommended to have this unit installed by a professional car audio technician.

5.1. Choosing a Mounting Location

The Caliber BC108US is designed for underseat mounting due to its compact dimensions. Consider the following when selecting a location:

5.2. Wiring Connections

Before making any connections, disconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery.

  1. Power Connection (B+): Connect the yellow wire from the wiring harness to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's battery. Use an appropriate gauge wire and install an inline fuse (not supplied) as close to the battery as possible. The fuse rating should be suitable for a 500W peak power amplifier.
  2. Ground Connection (GND): Connect the black wire from the wiring harness to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection by scraping away any paint or rust.
  3. Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect the blue wire from the wiring harness to the remote turn-on output of your car stereo. This wire tells the subwoofer to turn on when your stereo is active. If your stereo does not have a remote output, you may connect it to an ignition-switched 12V source, but this may result in a slight turn-on pop.
  4. Audio Input (RCA or High-Level):
    • RCA Input: If your car stereo has RCA pre-outs, connect them to the CH1 and CH2 RCA inputs on the subwoofer's rear panel.
    • High-Level Input: If your car stereo does not have RCA pre-outs, use the high-level input wires on the supplied harness. Connect the speaker output wires from your car stereo directly to the corresponding high-level input wires on the subwoofer harness. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  5. Remote Level Control: Connect the wired remote control to the "REMOTE" port on the subwoofer's rear panel. Route the cable to a convenient location for the driver to adjust bass levels.

Once all connections are made, re-connect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery.

6. Operating Instructions

After successful installation, you can power on your car stereo to activate the subwoofer. Adjust the settings on the subwoofer's rear panel for optimal sound performance.

6.1. Controls and Adjustments

Refer to Figure 4.4 for the location of these controls:

6.2. Using the Wired Remote Control

The wired remote control allows you to conveniently adjust the bass level from the driver's seat without accessing the subwoofer unit directly. Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the subwoofer's output level.

7. Maintenance

The Caliber BC108US is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:
