Setup

  1. Placement: Place the soldering station power supply on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  2. Connect Iron: Insert the soldering iron's connector securely into the designated port on the front of the power supply unit.
  3. Position Iron Holder: Place the iron holder in a convenient and safe location near your workspace. Ensure it is stable and will not tip over.
  4. Prepare Cleaning Sponge: If using the sponge, lightly dampen it with water. Squeeze out any excess water until it is just moist. Place it in the designated sponge tray on the iron holder. The brass wool (water-less cleaner) can be used dry.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet (120 Volts).

Operating Instructions

Powering On and Temperature Control

  1. Power On: Flip the power switch located on the side of the unit to the 'ON' position. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Set Temperature: Use the "UP" and "DOWN" arrow buttons to adjust the desired temperature. The Hakko FX-888D supports a temperature range of approximately 399°F to 850°F (200°C to 450°C).
  3. Confirm Setting: Press the "ENTER" button to confirm your temperature selection. The unit will rapidly heat the soldering iron to the set temperature. The display will show the current tip temperature as it rises.
  4. Fast Heat-up: The FX-888D is known for its quick heat-up time, typically reaching operating temperature within 30 seconds.
