2. Location Requirements
- Outdoor Use: This unit is specifically designed for outdoor environments. Ensure it is protected from direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions.
- Ventilation: Maintain adequate clearance around the unit for proper air circulation, especially around the front grille where the air-cooled condenser is located.
- Level Surface: Place the ice maker on a firm, level surface to ensure proper operation and drainage.
- Temperature: Operate the unit in ambient temperatures between 50°F (10°C) and 100°F (38°C).

3. Electrical Connection
Connect the ice maker to a dedicated, grounded electrical outlet. Refer to the unit's rating label for specific voltage and amperage requirements. Do not use extension cords.
4. Water Connection
Connect the ice maker to a potable cold water supply with a pressure between 20 PSI and 80 PSI. An inline water filter is recommended to improve ice quality and extend the life of the unit.
5. Drain Connection
The MIM50-O utilizes a gravity drain system. Ensure the drain hose is routed downwards to an open drain with a continuous slope, preventing standing water.
6. Initial Cleaning
Before first use, clean the interior of the ice maker and the ice storage bin with a mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
Locate the ON/OFF switch on the front control panel. Flip the switch to the "ON" position to start the ice production cycle. To turn off the unit, flip the switch to "OFF".

2. Ice Production
Once powered on and connected to water, the unit will automatically begin the ice-making process. Water is pumped over a cold evaporator plate, forming individual ice cubes. These cubes are then harvested and dropped into the storage bin. The unit will automatically stop producing ice when the bin is full and resume when ice levels drop.

3. Automatic Cleaning Cycle
The MIM50-O features an automatic cleaning cycle. To initiate, ensure the unit is empty of ice, then press the "CLEAN" switch on the control panel. Follow the instructions in the maintenance section for adding cleaning solution. The cycle will run for a predetermined time and then automatically shut off.
Maintenance
1. Regular Cleaning
- Exterior: Wipe down the stainless steel exterior with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Interior & Ice Bin: Regularly clean the interior surfaces and the ice storage bin with a food-safe sanitizer. Rinse thoroughly to prevent chemical residue.
- Air Filter: The air filter (if present, typically behind the front grille) should be cleaned monthly. Remove, wash with warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and reinsert.
2. Descaling
Mineral deposits can accumulate over time, affecting ice production. Use a commercial ice maker descaling solution as directed by the manufacturer. Always follow the safety instructions provided with the descaling agent. Run the automatic cleaning cycle with the descaling solution.
3. Long-Term Storage
If the unit will not be used for an extended period, drain all water, clean and sanitize the interior, and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent mold and odors. Disconnect from power and water supply.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not turn on | No power; ON/OFF switch is off; circuit breaker tripped. | Check power cord, ensure switch is ON, reset circuit breaker. |
| No ice production | No water supply; water inlet valve closed; low water pressure; clogged filter. | Check water connection, open valve, verify water pressure, clean/replace filter. |
| Poor ice quality (small, cloudy) | High water mineral content; dirty evaporator; high ambient temperature. | Install water filter, descale unit, ensure proper ventilation. |
| Water leaks | Loose water connections; clogged drain hose; unit not level. | Tighten connections, clear drain, level the unit. |
| Unusual noise | Loose components; fan obstruction; compressor issue. | Inspect for loose parts, clear obstructions, contact service if compressor noise persists. |
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Maxx Ice customer support.
