3. Hardware Overview
3.1 Front Panel
The front panel features LED indicators that display the device's status.

4. Setup
4.1 Physical Connection
- Connect the ADSL line from your wall jack to the ADSL splitter's 'LINE' port.
- Connect the ADSL splitter's 'MODEM' port to the ADSL port (RJ-11) on the TD-W8151N.
- Connect your computer to the LAN port (RJ-45) on the TD-W8151N using an Ethernet cable.
- Connect the power adapter to the Power port on the TD-W8151N and plug it into a power outlet.
- Press the On/Off button to power on the device.
4.2 Configuration using Easy Setup Assistant
The TD-W8151N includes an Easy Setup Assistant on the provided Resource CD for simplified installation.
- Insert the Resource CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to run the Easy Setup Assistant.
- The assistant will guide you through the internet connection, wireless network settings, and security configurations.
4.3 Manual Configuration (Web Interface)
Alternatively, you can configure the device via its web-based management interface.
- Ensure your computer is connected to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g.,
192.168.1.1) in the address bar. - Enter the default username and password (usually
adminfor both). - Follow the Quick Setup wizard or navigate through the interface to configure your ADSL settings, wireless network name (SSID), and password.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Connecting to the Wireless Network
- On your wireless device (laptop, smartphone, tablet), search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the SSID (network name) you configured during setup.
- Enter the wireless password (security key) when prompted.
- Your device should now be connected to the wireless network.
5.2 Basic Internet Access
Once configured and connected, you can access the internet through either a wired Ethernet connection or the wireless network. Ensure the ADSL and Internet LEDs on the front panel are stable green, indicating a successful connection.
6. Advanced Features
6.1 Quality of Service (QoS)
The integrated QoS engine allows for prioritization of internet traffic. This feature is beneficial for applications requiring consistent bandwidth, such as IPTV streaming and online gaming, ensuring smoother performance.
6.2 Network Security
The TD-W8151N incorporates several security features to protect your network:
- NAT Firewall: Network Address Translation firewall protects private network IP addresses from direct exposure to the internet.
- SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) Firewall: Inspects incoming packets to verify their legitimacy, preventing potential attacks.
- Access Control: Allows administrators to establish restricted access policies based on MAC address, IP address, domain name, or specific applications.
6.3 Remote Management

7. Maintenance
7.1 Firmware Upgrade

8. Troubleshooting
- No Internet Access:
- Check if the ADSL and Internet LEDs are stable green. If not, verify physical connections and contact your ISP.
- Ensure your ADSL login credentials are correctly entered in the router's configuration.
- Restart the modem router and your computer.
- Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
- Ensure the WLAN LED is active. If not, press the WPS/Wi-Fi button to enable Wi-Fi.
- Verify that you are entering the correct wireless password.
- Check if your device is within the router's wireless range.
- Slow Internet Speed:
- Check for interference from other wireless devices.
