Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the equipment and keep it for future reference. Proper use and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your blower.

2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when operating power equipment. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.

General Safety Precautions:

  • Read the Entire Manual: Understand all instructions and warnings before use.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), long pants, heavy-duty gloves, and sturdy footwear.
  • Fuel Handling: Handle fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks or open flames. Use only approved fuel containers.
  • Inspect Equipment: Before each use, check the blower for loose parts, damage, or leaks. Ensure all guards and attachments are securely in place.
  • Maintain a Safe Distance: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from the operating area.
  • Avoid Fatigue: Do not operate the blower when tired or under the influence of alcohol or medication.
  • Engine Heat: The engine and muffler become very hot during operation and can cause burns. Avoid contact.
  • Fire Hazard: Do not operate near flammable materials.

  • Engine Unit: The core power source, housing the 25.4cc engine and fuel tank.
  • Backpack Frame and Harness: Designed for comfortable carrying, distributing the weight across the user's back and shoulders.
  • Fuel Tank: Located at the base of the engine unit, for holding the fuel mixture.
  • Air Filter Cover: Protects the air filter, essential for engine longevity.
  • Flexible Tube: Connects the engine's air outlet to the rigid blower pipe.
  • Blower Pipe: The main tube through which air is expelled.
  • Throttle Control Handle: Mounted on the blower pipe, allowing for precise control of engine speed and air output.
  • Starter Handle: Used to manually start the engine.

4. Setup

4.1 Assembly

Your blower may require minor assembly before first use. Refer to the diagrams in your product packaging for specific steps.

  1. Attach Blower Tubes: Securely connect the flexible tube to the engine outlet and the rigid blower pipe to the flexible tube. Ensure all clamps are tightened.
  2. Attach Throttle Control: Mount the throttle control handle to the blower pipe at a comfortable position and connect the throttle cable.

4.2 Fueling the Blower

The ECHO PB-265LN uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific gasoline/oil mixture. Do not use straight gasoline.

  • Fuel Type: Use fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher.
  • Oil Type: Use only ECHO-approved 2-stroke engine oil (FD rated). Using non-FD rated oil may void your warranty.
  • Mixing Ratio: Mix gasoline and 2-stroke oil at a 50:1 ratio (2.6 fl. oz. of oil per 1 gallon of gasoline).
  • Ethanol Content: Use ethanol-free gasoline if possible. High ethanol content can damage engine components.
  • Filling the Tank: Carefully pour the mixed fuel into the fuel tank, avoiding spills. Securely tighten the fuel cap.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting the Engine

  1. Place the blower on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Ensure the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
  3. Move the choke lever to the "COLD START" or "FULL CHOKE" position.
  4. Press the primer bulb 7-10 times until fuel is visible in the return line.
  5. Pull the starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine attempts to start (usually 1-3 pulls).
  6. Once the engine attempts to start, move the choke lever to the "HALF CHOKE" position.
  7. Pull the starter handle again until the engine starts.
  8. Allow the engine to warm up for 30-60 seconds, then move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
  9. If the engine does not start after several pulls, refer to the troubleshooting section.

5.2 Using the Blower

Once the engine is running and warmed up, put on the backpack harness. Adjust the straps for a comfortable and secure fit.

  • Throttle Control: Use the throttle lever on the handle to increase or decrease engine speed and air output.
  • Blowing Technique: Sweep the blower pipe from side to side to move debris efficiently. For stubborn debris, use short, powerful bursts of air.
  • Low Noise Operation: This model is designed for low noise. Operate at the lowest effective throttle setting to minimize noise levels.

5.3 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply move the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of your ECHO PB-265LN blower.

6.1 Air Filter

  • Inspection: Check the air filter before each use, especially in dusty conditions.
  • Cleaning: Remove the air filter cover. Clean the pleated paper main filter and foam pre-filter by tapping out loose debris or washing with warm, soapy water. Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstallation.
  • Replacement: Replace the air filter if it is damaged or cannot be cleaned effectively.

6.2 Spark Plug

  • Inspection: Inspect the spark plug periodically for wear, carbon buildup, or damage.
  • Replacement: If replacement is needed, use only the recommended NGK brand spark plug specified for your model.

6.3 Fuel System

  • Fuel Filter: Inspect and replace the fuel filter annually or if fuel delivery issues occur.
  • Fuel Storage: For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Use a fuel stabilizer for stored fuel.

6.4 General Cleaning and Storage

  • Keep the exterior of the blower clean and free of debris.
  • Store the blower in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from children and ignition sources.
