5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On and Illumination

  • Ensure the LED ring light power supply is plugged into an electrical outlet.
  • Turn on the LED ring light using the switch located on the light head.
  • Adjust the brightness using the rheostat control dial on the ring light.

5.2 Viewing Through Eyepieces

  1. Place a specimen on the stage plate and secure it with the stage clips if necessary.
  2. Adjust the interpupillary distance by moving the eyepiece tubes closer or further apart until a single, clear circular field of view is observed.
  3. Use the dioptric adjustment on one eyepiece to compensate for individual eye-strength differences, ensuring both eyes are in focus.
  4. Rotate the zoom objective knob to change the magnification from 0.7x to 4.5x, providing a continuous zoom range of 7x-45x with the 10x eyepieces.
  5. Use the coarse focus knobs on the side of the microscope head to bring the specimen into sharp focus.

5.3 Using the Digital Camera

  1. Ensure the camera is properly installed and connected to your computer, and the software is running.
  2. Open the image capture software on your computer. The live feed from the microscope camera should appear on your screen.
  3. Adjust the microscope's focus and zoom while observing the computer screen to achieve the desired image.
  4. Use the software to capture still images (JPG, TIF, GIF, PSD, WMF, BMP formats supported) or record live video. The camera provides 40x magnification on screen with the 0.5x reduction lens.
  5. The software includes editing capabilities and measurement functions.

  • Cleaning Optical Components: Use a soft brush to remove dust from lenses. For smudges or fingerprints, use lens cleaning solution and lens paper. Apply solution to the paper, not directly to the lens.
  • Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using organic solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, cover the microscope with the provided dust cover to protect it from dust and debris. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • LED Ring Light: The 144-bulb LED ring light has a 100,000-hour lifespan and does not require bulb replacement under normal use.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No illumination from LED ring light.Power cable disconnected; light switch off; rheostat set to minimum.Check power connections; turn on switch; increase brightness with rheostat.
Image is blurry or out of focus.Incorrect focus adjustment; dioptric adjustment needed; objective lens dirty.Adjust coarse focus; adjust dioptric setting for individual eyes; clean objective lens.
No image or poor image quality from camera.Camera not connected; software not installed/running; incorrect camera settings; insufficient lighting.Ensure USB cable is connected; install/launch software; check camera settings in software; increase LED light brightness.
Cannot achieve a single circular field of view.Interpupillary distance not adjusted correctly.Adjust the distance between the eyepieces until a single image is seen.
