3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Assemble the Pillar Stand: Place the pillar stand base on a stable, level surface. Insert the pillar into the base and secure it if necessary (some models may have a screw at the bottom of the base).
  3. Attach the Microscope Head: Loosen the locking screw on the pillar stand's head holder. Slide the microscope head onto the pillar, adjusting the height to a comfortable working position. Tighten the locking screw securely.
  4. Insert Eyepieces: Remove the dust caps from the eyepiece tubes on the binocular head. Insert the WH10x20mm eyepieces into the tubes. If desired, place the rubber eye guards onto the eyepieces for comfort and to block ambient light.
  5. Install 0.5x Barlow Lens (Optional): If reduced magnification and increased working distance are desired, screw the 0.5x Barlow lens onto the bottom of the main objective housing. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  6. Attach LED Ring Light: Slide the 64-bulb LED ring light onto the bottom of the microscope objective housing. Ensure it fits snugly. Connect the ring light's power cable to its dedicated power supply, then plug the power supply into a standard electrical outlet.
  7. Prepare the Stage: Place the reversible black and white stage plate onto the base. Use the stage clips to secure specimens if needed.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Powering On the LED Ring Light: Locate the power switch on the LED ring light. Flip it to the 'ON' position. Use the rheostat (dimmer knob) on the light head to adjust the illumination intensity.
  2. Placing a Specimen: Place your specimen on the stage plate. Use the stage clips to hold it in place if necessary.
  3. Adjusting Interpupillary Distance: While looking through the eyepieces, adjust the distance between the two eyepiece tubes by gently pushing them together or pulling them apart until you see a single, circular field of view.
  4. Diopter Adjustment: If you wear glasses or have different vision in each eye, use the diopter adjustment ring on one of the eyepieces (usually the left one). Close the eye without the diopter adjustment, and focus the image using the main focus knob. Then, close the eye that was just focused, and use the diopter adjustment ring to bring the image into sharp focus for the other eye.
  5. Adjusting Magnification (Zoom): Rotate the zoom objective knob (typically located on the side of the microscope head) to change the magnification from 0.7x to 4.5x. With the WH10x eyepieces, this provides a continuous zoom from 7x to 45x. If the 0.5x Barlow lens is installed, the range becomes 3.5x to 22.5x.
  6. Focusing: Use the large focus knobs on the pillar stand to raise or lower the microscope head, bringing the specimen into sharp focus. Adjust the focus as you change magnification to maintain clarity.
  7. Adjusting Working Distance: The microscope offers a long working distance. Adjust the height of the microscope head on the pillar stand to accommodate larger specimens or to allow for manipulation tools.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a specialized lens cleaning solution to clean optical surfaces. Avoid touching lenses with bare fingers.
  • Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Dust Protection: Always cover the microscope with the provided dust cover when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Storage: Store the microscope in a dry, dust-free environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Moving the Microscope: When moving the microscope, always hold it by the pillar stand and base. Avoid lifting it by the head or stage.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Illumination:
    • Ensure the LED ring light is properly connected to its power supply and the power supply is plugged into a working outlet.
    • Check if the power switch on the ring light is in the 'ON' position.
    • Verify the rheostat (dimmer) is not set to its lowest intensity.
  • Image is Blurry or Out of Focus:
    • Adjust the main focus knob.
    • Ensure the eyepieces are fully inserted and the interpupillary distance is correctly set for your eyes.
    • Perform diopter adjustment if needed.
    • Check if the objective lens or eyepieces are dirty and clean them carefully.
  • Cannot See a Single Image (Double Vision):
    • Adjust the interpupillary distance until the two fields of view merge into one circular image.
  • Difficulty Changing Magnification:
    • Ensure the zoom knob rotates smoothly. Do not force it.
