Model: 12921

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Lakeland 3.5 Liter Slow Cooker. This appliance is designed to simplify meal preparation, allowing you to cook delicious, tender meals with minimal effort. By slowly cooking ingredients over several hours, it enhances flavors and tenderizes tougher cuts of meat. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use to ensure safe and efficient operation.

2. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the base unit, cord, or plug in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact customer service for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'OFF', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • This product is supplied with a UK plug. Ensure it is used with a compatible UK socket or an appropriate adapter if used in other regions.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes to the ceramic pot, such as placing a hot pot into cold water, as this may cause it to crack.

4. Before First Use

  1. Unpack the slow cooker and remove all packaging materials.
  2. Wash the removable ceramic pot and glass lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are also dishwasher safe.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the outer housing with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the outer housing in water.
  4. Ensure all parts are completely dry before assembly and use.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective use of your slow cooker:

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Place your ingredients into the removable ceramic pot. Do not overfill; ensure there is at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) of space from the rim to allow for bubbling.
  2. Assemble: Place the filled ceramic pot into the outer housing. Cover with the glass lid.
  3. Connect Power: Ensure the control dial is set to 'OFF'. Plug the slow cooker into a suitable UK power outlet.
  4. Select Setting: Turn the control dial to your desired cooking setting:
    • LOW: Ideal for slow, gentle cooking over a longer period, typically 6-8 hours.
    • HIGH: For faster cooking, typically 3-4 hours.
    • AUTO: This setting starts cooking on HIGH and then automatically switches to LOW to maintain the food at a serving temperature once cooked. This is useful for keeping food warm after the main cooking cycle.
  5. Cooking: Allow the food to cook for the recommended time. Avoid lifting the lid frequently, as this releases heat and can extend cooking times.
  6. Serving: Once cooking is complete, turn the control dial to 'OFF' and unplug the appliance. Use oven mitts or heat-resistant gloves when handling the hot ceramic pot.

  2. Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
  3. Ceramic Pot and Glass Lid: These parts are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, wash them in warm, soapy water using a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surfaces.
  4. Outer Housing: Wipe the exterior of the outer housing with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the outer housing in water or any other liquid.
  5. Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and completely dry before storing the slow cooker. Store in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your slow cooker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Appliance does not turn on:
    • Check that the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Ensure the control dial is set to 'LOW', 'HIGH', or 'AUTO' and not 'OFF'.
  • Food is not cooking properly or is undercooked:
    • Verify that the lid is properly seated on the ceramic pot to prevent heat loss.
    • Ensure you have selected the correct heat setting and cooking time for your recipe.
    • Avoid lifting the lid frequently during cooking, as this extends cooking time.
  • Food is burning or overcooked:
    • Reduce cooking time or use a lower heat setting.
    • Ensure there is sufficient liquid in the pot, especially for longer cooking times.
  • Food is sticking to the ceramic pot:
    • Ensure adequate liquid is used in your recipe.
    • For certain recipes, a light coating of cooking spray or oil can be applied to the inside of the ceramic pot before adding ingredients.
