Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before operating the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'OFF', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Oversize foods or metal utensils must not be inserted in a toaster oven as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock.
  • A fire may occur if the oven is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
  • Do not place any of the following materials in the oven: paper, cardboard, plastic, and the like.
  • Do not store any materials, other than manufacturer's recommended accessories, in this oven when not in use.
  • Do not cover crumb tray or any part of the oven with metal foil. This will cause overheating of the oven.

Before First Use

  1. Unpack the oven and remove all packaging materials, including any internal packing.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the oven with a damp cloth. Clean the interior, wire rack, cooking tray, crumb tray, rotisserie rod, and rotisserie tong with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Ensure the crumb tray is properly inserted at the bottom of the oven.
  4. Place the oven on a stable, heat-resistant surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the appliance. Do not place it too close to walls or other appliances.
  5. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  6. Before cooking food, operate the oven empty for approximately 15 minutes at the maximum temperature setting (250°C) to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke may be present during this initial operation; this is normal. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.

Setup

Tray and Rack Placement:

  • Crumb Tray: Always place the crumb tray at the very bottom of the oven to catch drips and crumbs.
  • Wire Rack: Insert the wire rack into the desired rack support guides. Use for baking, toasting, or placing oven-safe dishes.
  • Cooking Tray: Place the cooking tray on top of the wire rack or directly into the rack support guides for baking or roasting.

Rotisserie Setup:

  1. Secure the food (e.g., whole chicken) onto the rotisserie rod using the forks provided. Ensure the food is centered and balanced.
  2. Insert the pointed end of the rotisserie rod into the rotisserie drive socket on the right side of the oven interior.
  3. Rest the square end of the rotisserie rod onto the rotisserie support on the left side of the oven interior.
  4. Ensure the food clears the heating elements and the bottom of the oven.

Operating Instructions

This OTG features three control knobs: Temperature, Function, and Timer.

1. Temperature Control Knob:

  • Turn this knob to select the desired cooking temperature, ranging from 100°C to 250°C.

2. Function Selector Knob:

Select the desired heating element configuration:

  • OFF: Oven is off.
  • Upper Heating Element: For grilling or browning.
  • Lower Heating Element: For baking or slow cooking.
  • Both Upper & Lower Heating Elements: For general baking, roasting, or toasting.
  • Rotisserie + Upper Heating Element: For rotisserie grilling.
  • Keep Warm: Maintains food at a warm temperature after cooking.

3. Timer Knob:

  • Turn this knob clockwise to set the cooking time, up to 60 minutes. The oven will automatically turn off and a bell will ring when the set time expires.
  • For continuous operation (bypass timer), turn the timer knob counter-clockwise to the 'STAY ON' position. The oven will remain on until manually turned off.

General Operation Steps:

  1. Place food inside the oven on the appropriate rack or tray.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Set the desired temperature using the Temperature Control Knob.
  4. Select the appropriate cooking function using the Function Selector Knob.
  5. Set the cooking time using the Timer Knob. The power indicator light will illuminate, indicating the oven is operating.
  6. When cooking is complete, the timer will chime, and the oven will turn off (unless 'STAY ON' was selected).
  7. Carefully remove food using oven mitts and the provided tong.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your OTG.

  1. Before Cleaning: Always unplug the oven from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the finish.
  3. Interior: Wipe the interior walls with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive cleaner designed for oven interiors can be used. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto heating elements.
  4. Crumb Tray: Remove the crumb tray and discard accumulated crumbs. Wash the tray in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly before replacing.
  5. Wire Rack, Cooking Tray, Rotisserie Rod & Tong: These accessories can be washed in warm, soapy water. Rinse well and dry completely.
  6. Glass Door: Clean the glass door with a glass cleaner or a damp cloth.
  7. Do Not Immerse: Never immerse the main body of the oven, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Morphy Richards OTG, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
