  2. While holding CLOCK, press the WEEK button repeatedly until the correct day of the week is displayed (Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su).
  3. While holding CLOCK, press the HOUR button repeatedly to set the correct hour.
  4. While holding CLOCK, press the MIN button repeatedly to set the correct minute.

Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the three operating modes:

  • ON: The connected appliance will remain continuously ON, overriding all programs.
  • AUTO: The connected appliance will switch ON and OFF according to the programmed settings. This is the standard operating mode for automated control.
  • OFF: The connected appliance will remain continuously OFF, overriding all programs.

4.3. Daylight Saving Time (Summertime Function)

To activate or deactivate the daylight saving time function, press the HOUR and MIN buttons simultaneously. The display will show 'S' to indicate that summertime is active, and the time will adjust by one hour. Repeat the action to deactivate it.

4.4. Random Function

The random function provides an additional layer of security by randomly activating the connected appliance for short periods within a specified interval (0-32 minutes). This can simulate occupancy when you are away.

To activate the random function, press the RANDOM button (often labeled with a symbol or combined with another button, refer to your specific unit's button layout if not explicitly labeled). The display will show 'R' to indicate that the random function is active. Press it again to deactivate.

5. Maintenance

The LAFAYETTE TDS-2 digital timer requires minimal maintenance. Ensure the device is unplugged from the power outlet before cleaning.

  • Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the casing and electronic components.
  • Keep the timer away from excessive moisture, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Display is blank or not responding:
Ensure the timer is properly plugged into a live power outlet. If it's the first use or after a long storage, allow it to charge for 10-15 minutes. If the issue persists, perform a full reset using the 'R' button.
  • Appliance does not turn ON/OFF as programmed:
Check that the timer is set to 'AUTO' mode. Verify that the ON/OFF programs are correctly set for the desired days and times. Ensure the connected appliance is functioning correctly and its own power switch is ON.
  • Time is incorrect:
Re-set the current time and day as described in Section 3.2. Check if the daylight saving time function is accidentally activated or deactivated.
  • Random function is not working:
Ensure the random function is activated (indicated by 'R' on the display).
