Key Features
- Material Compatibility: Specifically formulated for rubber and gasket materials.
- High Performance: Nitrile-based for strong, durable bonds.
- Working Time: Approximately 12 minutes, allowing for repositioning.
- Color: Yellow for easy visibility during application.
- Packaging: Convenient 5 oz tube for controlled dispensing.
Setup and Preparation
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area due to flammable vapors. Use in a well-ventilated area or with local exhaust ventilation.
- Surface Preparation: Surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants. For best results, abrade smooth surfaces lightly.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses and chemical-resistant gloves, to prevent skin and eye contact.
- Temperature: Apply adhesive at room temperature (typically 65-80°F / 18-27°C) for optimal performance.
Operating and Application
- Dispensing: Puncture the seal of the tube (if present) and attach the nozzle.
- Application: Apply a thin, uniform coat of adhesive to both surfaces to be bonded. Ensure complete coverage, especially at edges.
- Open Time: Allow the adhesive to dry for approximately 2-5 minutes, or until it becomes tacky to the touch but does not transfer to a knuckle. This is within the 12-minute working time.
- Bonding: Carefully align the two surfaces and press them firmly together. Apply uniform pressure across the entire bonded area.
- Curing: The adhesive will achieve handling strength quickly, but full cure time is approximately 24 hours. Avoid stressing the bond during this period.
Maintenance and Storage
- Cleaning Tools: Clean tools and excess adhesive immediately after use with an appropriate solvent (e.g., methyl ethyl ketone or toluene), following solvent manufacturer's safety instructions.
- Storage: Store the adhesive in its original, tightly sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition. Keep out of reach of children.
- Disposal: Dispose of unused adhesive and empty containers according to local, state, and federal regulations.
Troubleshooting
- Poor Adhesion:
- Ensure surfaces were properly cleaned and dried. Verify that sufficient pressure was applied during bonding. Check if the adhesive was allowed adequate open time to become tacky before joining surfaces.
- Adhesive Not Curing:
- Confirm that the application temperature was within the recommended range. Allow the full 24-hour cure time before evaluating final bond strength.
- Excessive Odor:
- Ensure the work area is adequately ventilated. If odor persists or is strong, evacuate the area and improve ventilation before resuming work.
