1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Rowenta KM-03 Electric Can Opener and Knife Sharpener. This appliance is designed for convenient and efficient opening of standard cans and sharpening of non-serrated knife blades. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use to ensure proper operation and maintenance.

Important: This appliance is designed for OVERSEAS USE ONLY and operates on 220-volt power. Do not attempt to use it with a 110-volt power supply without a suitable voltage converter.

2. Important Safety Instructions

3. Setup

Before first use, unpack the appliance and ensure all components are present and undamaged. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. The cutting blade is removable for cleaning; ensure it is securely reattached before use.

1. Place the can opener on a stable, flat, and dry surface near a 220-volt power outlet.
2. Ensure the power cord is not tangled or obstructing any pathways.
3. Plug the appliance into a 220-volt electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions: Electric Can Opener

The Rowenta KM-03 features an automatic stop function for hands-free operation.

1. Lift the operating lever.
2. Position the can so that the rim is under the guide wheel and the cutting blade is inside the rim.
3. Press down the operating lever firmly until the cutting blade pierces the can lid. The motor will start automatically.
4. Hold the lever down for a moment until the can opener grips the can and begins to rotate it. You can then release the lever.
5. The can opener will automatically cut around the lid and stop once the can is fully opened.
6. To remove the can, lift the operating lever. The lid may remain attached to the magnetic holder. Carefully remove the lid and dispose of it.

Warning: Can edges and lids can be sharp. Handle with care.

5. Operating Instructions: Built-in Knife Sharpener

The built-in knife sharpener is suitable for sharpening non-serrated knife blades. It features variable thickness bars to accommodate different blade types.

1. Ensure the can opener is unplugged from the power outlet before using the knife sharpener.
2. Locate the knife sharpening slot on the side of the appliance.
3. Insert the knife blade into the sharpening slot, ensuring it is centered between the abrasive wheels.
4. Gently pull the knife blade towards you, applying light, even pressure. Do not push the knife away from you.
5. Repeat this motion 3-5 times, or until the desired sharpness is achieved.
6. After sharpening, carefully wipe the blade with a damp cloth to remove any metal filings.

Caution: Knife blades are extremely sharp after sharpening. Handle with extreme care. Keep fingers clear of the sharpening slot during operation.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your appliance.

1. Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.
2. Cleaning the Cutting Blade: The cutting blade is removable for easy cleaning. To remove, lift the operating lever and gently pull the blade assembly away from the unit. Wash the blade with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely before reattaching.
3. Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
4. Cleaning the Knife Sharpener: Use a small brush to carefully remove any metal filings from the sharpening slot. Do not use water or liquids inside the sharpening mechanism.
5. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
6. Store the appliance in a dry place when not in use.
