Product Overview

This image displays the Paragon 8045-00 D-FROST-O-MATIC Time Control unit. The grey metal enclosure is open, revealing the internal components. On the right, a large circular dial with numbers 1-12 (for hours) and smaller markings (for minutes) is visible, used for setting time and defrost cycles. Below the dial are brass screw terminals labeled N, 1, 2, 3, 4, and an X, indicating wiring connections. The inside of the cover on the left contains a wiring diagram and important safety warnings regarding electrical shock and proper conductor use. The model number '8045-00' and 'D-FROST-O-MATIC™ TIME CONTROL' are clearly printed on the unit.
Setup
Before beginning installation, ensure all power to the circuit is disconnected at the main panel. Refer to the wiring diagram located inside the unit's cover for correct connections. Use only copper conductors of the specified gauge.
Installing and Operating Directions:
Place start pins in the outer (24-hour) dial at the desired time of day. Note that switch contacts are reversed from the shown configuration when dial pins are opposite the time pointer.
Operating Instructions
To Set Mechanical Defrost Termination:
Push down and rotate the pointer on the inner (2-hour) dial until it aligns with the desired termination time. Ensure proper spacing between settings on the dial.
To Set Time of Day:
Grasp the knob in the center of the inner (2-hour) dial and rotate it in a counter-clockwise direction. This action will revolve the outer dial. Line up the correct time of day on the outer dial with the time pointer. Do not attempt to set the time control by grasping the outer dial; rotate the inner dial only.
Maintenance
To Remove Movement from Case:
Press the spring clip at the right center of the case and lift the movement out.
To Replace Movement in Case:
Insert the tabs on the left side of the time switch plate into the holes in the side of the case. Push down and snap into place.
Troubleshooting
If the unit is not functioning as expected, first verify that all power connections are secure and that the correct voltage is supplied. Check the dial settings to ensure they are configured properly for your defrost schedule. For persistent issues, consult a qualified electrician or refrigeration technician.
