5.2. Changing Units

Refer to the device's specific button layout for unit selection. Typically, a dedicated UNIT button or a long press of a function button allows cycling through available air velocity units (m/s, fpm, knots, mph, km/h, Beaufort) and temperature units (°C, °F).

5.3. Hold Function

Press the HOLD button to freeze the current readings on the display. This is useful for noting down values. Press HOLD again to resume live measurement.

5.4. Max/Min Function

Press the MAX/MIN button to display the maximum recorded value. Press again to display the minimum value. A third press will return to live measurement. To reset Max/Min values, typically a long press of the MAX/MIN button is required.

5.5. Timed Mean Calculation

This function calculates the average air velocity over a user-defined period. Consult the device's specific instructions for initiating and setting the duration for timed mean measurements. This is particularly useful for obtaining stable average readings in fluctuating conditions.

5.6. Backlight

Press the LIGHT button (if available) to activate the display backlight for improved visibility in dark environments. Press again to turn it off.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

Clean the device with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the vane is free from dust and debris for accurate readings. Use a soft brush if necessary to gently clean the vane.

6.2. Storage

When not in use, store the Testo 410-1 in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its protective cap or case. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not turn on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the vane is clean and rotates freely. Verify the device is positioned correctly in the airflow. Check for any physical damage to the vane.
  • Display is dim or flickering: Batteries may be low. Replace them.
  • No response from buttons: Try removing and reinserting the batteries to perform a soft reset.
