2. Safety Information

Always read and understand the safety data sheet (SDS) before using this product. Keep out of reach of children. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and eye protection, during handling and application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Do not ingest. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention and show this container or label. Ensure adequate ventilation during use. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local regulations.

3. Product Overview

Sentinel X800 is a fast-acting cleaner that targets and dissolves corrosion debris and scale within central heating systems. Its advanced chemical technology allows for effective cleaning in as little as one hour, making it suitable for both new and older systems. It is particularly effective for powerflushing applications but also performs well in cold systems.

Key Features:

  • Rapidly removes corrosion deposits and scale.
  • Effective in as little as 1 hour.
  • Optimized for powerflushing.
  • Suitable for all types of central heating systems.
  • Restores system efficiency and heat transfer.

4. Setup and Preparation

  1. Isolate the System: Turn off the central heating system and allow it to cool down.
  2. Identify Access Point: Locate a suitable point to add the cleaner. Common access points include the F&E (feed and expansion) tank, a radiator, or a dedicated dosing point. For sealed systems, a radiator or filling loop is typically used.
  3. Drain Partially (if necessary): If adding to a full system, you may need to drain a small amount of water to create space for the cleaner. For open vented systems, add directly to the F&E tank. For sealed systems, use a radiator valve or a filling loop to introduce the product.
  4. Prepare for Dosing: Ensure you have the necessary tools, such as a funnel or a dosing kit, to safely introduce the cleaner into the system.

5. Operating and Application

Dosing Instructions:

  • Standard Application: Add 1 litre of Sentinel X800 for a typical domestic system (up to 10 radiators or 100 litres system volume).
  • Introducing the Cleaner:
    • Open Vented Systems: Add via the F&E tank.
    • Sealed Systems: Use a radiator valve or a dedicated dosing point. For radiators, close both valves, release air, and pour the cleaner into the radiator before reopening valves.

Circulation:

  1. Once the cleaner is in the system, turn on the central heating system.
  2. Circulate the cleaner for a minimum of 1 hour at normal operating temperature. For heavily fouled or older systems, circulation can be extended up to 24 hours.
  3. Ensure all radiators are open and hot during the circulation period to allow the cleaner to reach all parts of the system.
  4. For powerflushing, follow the powerflushing equipment manufacturer's instructions, using Sentinel X800 as the cleaning agent.

6. Maintenance and Post-Application

  1. Drain the System: After the recommended circulation time, turn off the heating system and drain the entire system completely.
  2. Flush Thoroughly: Refill the system with fresh water and flush thoroughly until the water runs clear. This may require several drain and refill cycles. Ensure all radiators are flushed.
  3. Add Inhibitor: Once the system is clean and flushed, refill it with fresh water and add a suitable central heating inhibitor, such as Sentinel X100, to prevent future corrosion and scale formation. This is a critical step for long-term system protection.
  4. Check for Leaks: After refilling, check all connections and components for any leaks.

7. Troubleshooting

  • System still cold in areas: Ensure all radiator valves were fully open during circulation. The system may require a longer cleaning period or a second application if heavily fouled. Consider powerflushing for stubborn blockages.
  • Water remains discolored after flushing: This indicates that not all cleaning agent and debris have been removed. Continue flushing the system until the water runs clear.
  • Product not circulating: Check that the system pump is operational and that there are no airlocks preventing circulation. Bleed radiators if necessary.
  • Skin/Eye irritation: Refer to safety information. Rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
