Battery Installation

The NEIKO 20741A Digital Torque Adapter requires two AA batteries for operation.

Attaching to a Ratchet

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press the Power button (labeled with a circle and vertical line symbol) to turn the adapter on or off. The unit will automatically shut off after 80 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Unit Selection

Press the UNIT button to cycle through the available torque units: Kg-m, Kg-cm, in-lb, Ft-lb, N-m. The currently selected unit will be displayed on the screen.

Mode Selection (Peak and Trace)

The adapter offers two operational modes:

Setting Target Torque (Trace Mode Only)

In Trace Mode, you can pre-set a target torque value. The adapter will provide alerts as you approach and reach this value.

  1. Press the SET button. The display will begin to flash, indicating it is ready for input.
  2. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the target torque value. Holding either button will increase or decrease the value more rapidly.
  3. Press SET again to confirm your selection, or wait a few seconds for the setting to automatically save.

Applying Torque

Once the adapter is set up and the desired mode, unit, and target torque (if applicable) are selected:

  1. Position the tool assembly (ratchet + adapter + socket) onto the fastener you intend to tighten.
  2. Apply smooth, steady force to the ratchet handle. Avoid sudden jerks or impacts.
  3. Observe the digital display for real-time torque readings (Trace Mode) or the peak value (Peak Mode).
  4. In Trace Mode with a target set, the adapter will emit progressive audio beeps and illuminate LED lights as you approach the target torque. A continuous tone will sound when the target torque is reached.
  5. Stop applying force once the desired torque is achieved or the continuous tone sounds.
