4.1 Rear Panel Controls

4.2 Side View and Lens Controls

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the battery with the contacts facing the correct direction, as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover.
  3. Connect the battery charger to a power outlet and insert the battery into the charger. The charging indicator will show the charging status.
  4. Once charging is complete, remove the battery from the charger.

5.2 Memory Card Insertion

  1. Open the memory card slot cover, usually located near the battery compartment.
  2. Insert an SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is oriented correctly.
  3. Close the memory card slot cover.

5.3 Attaching the Shoulder Strap

Thread the ends of the shoulder strap through the strap lugs on both sides of the camera and secure them according to the strap's instructions.

5.4 Initial Settings

Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions using the directional pad and 'MENU/SET' button.

6. Operating the Camera

6.1 Power On/Off

Slide the ON/OFF switch located on the top panel to power the camera on or off.

6.2 Basic Photography Modes

Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to select your desired shooting mode:

  • P (Program AE): The camera automatically sets aperture and shutter speed for optimal exposure.
  • A (Aperture Priority AE): You set the aperture, and the camera selects the appropriate shutter speed.
  • S (Shutter Priority AE): You set the shutter speed, and the camera selects the appropriate aperture.
  • M (Manual Exposure): You control both aperture and shutter speed.
  • SCN (Scene Mode): Select from various preset scene modes (e.g., Portrait, Landscape) for specific shooting conditions.
  • C1/C2 (Custom Modes): Store your preferred camera settings for quick recall.

6.3 Taking Photos

  1. Turn the camera on and select a shooting mode.
  2. Frame your shot using the LCD screen.
  3. Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus indicator will illuminate when focus is achieved.
  4. Press the shutter button fully to capture the image.

6.4 Recording Videos

Press the dedicated video record button on the top panel to start and stop full-HD video recording. The camera's fast lens (f/1.4-2.3) is suitable for various lighting conditions during video capture.

6.5 Reviewing Images and Videos

Press the playback button (usually indicated by a play icon) to enter playback mode. Use the directional pad to navigate through your captured photos and videos.

6.6 Using the Lens Controls

The lens features an aperture ring for direct control over the aperture in applicable modes. The zoom lever around the shutter button allows you to adjust the focal length from 24mm to 90mm (35mm equivalent).

6.7 Menu Navigation

Press the 'MENU/SET' button to access the camera's menu system. Use the directional pad to navigate through menu options and 'MENU/SET' to confirm selections. The 'Q.MENU' button provides quick access to frequently used settings.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Camera

  • Camera Body: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and then wipe dry.
  • Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth and a small amount of lens cleaning solution. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
  • LCD Screen: Use a soft, dry cloth. For smudges, use a screen cleaner designed for electronics.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Charge the battery fully before first use.
