Model: CU-A4 | Brand: iSpring

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the iSpring CU-A4 4-Stage Under Sink Ultra-Filtration Water Filter System. This system is designed to provide clean, refreshing, and great-tasting water directly from your tap. With proper installation and maintenance, your iSpring CU-A4 system will deliver superior water quality for years to come.

The advanced 4-stage design, which includes Ultrafiltration and KDF/GAC stages, removes up to 99% of chlorine, chlorine treatment by-products, lead, and many other contaminants, while retaining beneficial minerals. This system is NOT a Reverse Osmosis water filtration system and does NOT lower Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

Product Overview

The iSpring CU-A4 utilizes a comprehensive 4-stage filtration process to ensure high-quality drinking water:

  1. Stage 1: PP Sediment Filter (5 microns)
Removes larger particles such as rust, sand, and dirt, protecting subsequent filters.
  2. Stage 2: Ultrafiltration Membrane (0.01 microns)
Utilizes hollow fiber membrane technology to effectively remove all colloidal particles (0.01 to 1.0 microns) and some of the largest dissolved contaminants, including bacteria and protozoa, while maintaining healthy mineral substance in the water.
  3. Stage 3: KDF and GAC Filter
Provides superior control over problematic contaminants like chloramine, hydrogen sulfide, heavy metals (lead, arsenic), and other compounds. KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) and Granular Activated Carbon work together for enhanced purification.
  4. Stage 4: Fine Activated Carbon Filter
Provides final polishing to remove any residual chlorine, odors, cloudiness, and colors, ensuring a crisp and clean taste.

Feed Water Adapter Installation

  1. Turn off the cold water supply valve under the sink and turn on the faucet to drain any air and water from the pipe.
  2. Unscrew the faucet connector pipe from the cold water supply valve. Be prepared to catch any excess water with a towel.
  3. Install the feed water adapter to the cold water supply valve and tighten it with a wrench. Ensure the O-ring is seated properly to prevent leaks.
  4. Reinstall the faucet connector pipe to the feed water adapter and tighten with a wrench.
  5. Turn the feed water valve to the OFF position. Insert the 1/4" tubing half an inch deep into the quick connect fitting and insert a locking clip. Measure and cut the tubing, leaving enough for future maintenance.

Drinking Faucet Installation

  1. Choose a suitable flat surface on the sink or countertop for the drinking faucet. Clean and dry the sink hole area. If no pre-existing hole, drill a 7/16 inch to 1 1/2 inch diameter hole.
  2. Insert the base plate, then the rubber washer into the faucet stem.
  3. Insert the drinking faucet into the sink hole.
  4. From under the sink, insert the rubber washer, followed by the wing nut, onto the faucet stem. Tighten the wing nut to secure the faucet.
  5. Insert the quick connect coupling to the faucet stem.
  6. Insert the tubing into the bottom end of the coupling half an inch deep. Insert locking clips to secure the coupling and tubing. Measure and cut the tubing, leaving enough for future maintenance.

Tubing Connections & Startup

  1. Insert the tubing from the feed water adapter half an inch deep into the system inlet fitting. Lock the tubing in place by inserting the locking clip.
  2. Insert the tubing from the faucet half an inch deep into the system outlet fitting. Lock the tubing in place by inserting the locking clip.
  3. Turn on the cold water supply valve and ensure there are no leaks from the connectors.
  4. Turn on the feed water valve and then the drinking faucet. Let the water drain for 15 minutes or until the water runs clear to flush the filters. It is normal to see residual carbon and fine air bubbles during the first flush. Check for leaks on all connectors. Shut off the drinking faucet when finished.

Maintenance & Filter Replacement

Regular filter replacement is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and water quality. It is highly advised to replace the filters when they reach their recommended replacement cycle. The actual lifespan of filters may vary depending on your source water quality and daily usage.

  • PP Sediment Filter (Stage 1): Replace every 6-12 months.
  • Ultrafiltration Membrane (Stage 2): Replace every 12 months.
  • KDF + GAC Filter (Stage 3): Replace every 6-12 months.
  • Post Activated Carbon Filter (Stage 4): Replace every 6-12 months.

Filter Replacement Procedure:

  1. Turn the feed water valve to the OFF position. Turn on the faucet to purge out air and water.
  2. Place the system in a pan to catch any water. Twist the filter housing clockwise to detach the housing from the machine head.
  3. Unwrap and install new filters counter-clockwise into the machine head.
  4. Slowly turn on the cold water supply valve. Check for leaks on all connectors and let the water run for at least 15 minutes to flush the new filter.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your iSpring CU-A4 system, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Low Water Flow: Check if the feed water valve is fully open. Ensure filters are not clogged and replace if necessary. Verify tubing is not kinked.
  • Leaks: Immediately shut off the water supply. Check all quick connect fittings and threaded connections for proper seating and tightness. Ensure O-rings are correctly placed.
  • Unpleasant Taste/Odor: This usually indicates that the carbon filters need replacement. Flush the system thoroughly after replacing filters.
