Introduction

The Brinno ATM100 Motion Sensor is an accessory designed to enhance the functionality of Brinno TLC200 and TLC200 f1.2 time lapse cameras. When connected, it transforms your time lapse camera into a motion-activated recording device, capturing events only when movement is detected.

This sensor is ideal for applications such as property surveillance, monitoring wildlife, or capturing specific events without continuous recording. Its portable design allows for flexible placement in various environments.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with: Brinno TLC200 and Brinno TLC200 f1.2 Time Lapse HD Video Cameras.
  • Not compatible with: Brinno TLC200 Pro model.

Package Contents

The Brinno ATM100 Motion Sensor package typically includes:

  • Brinno ATM100 Motion Sensor unit with integrated cable.
  • Magnetic attachment ring (pre-installed or separate).

Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare the Camera: Ensure your Brinno TLC200 or TLC200 f1.2 camera is powered off before connecting the motion sensor.
  2. Attach the Sensor: The ATM100 Motion Sensor features a magnetic attachment. Align the sensor's ring with the camera's lens ring. The sensor will magnetically snap into place above the camera's lens.
  3. Connect the Cable: Locate the 3.5mm audio jack input on your Brinno camera. Insert the ATM100's cable jack firmly into this port. A tight connection is essential for proper function. Ensure the jack is fully seated.
  4. Positioning: Mount your camera with the attached motion sensor in the desired location. Consider the sensor's detection range and angle (detailed below) when positioning for optimal coverage.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: After connecting the ATM100, power on your Brinno camera. The camera should automatically recognize the motion sensor and switch to motion detection mode.
  2. Motion Detection: When the ATM100 detects movement within its range, the camera will activate and begin recording.
  3. Recording Duration: The camera will typically record for 10 seconds after motion is detected. If continuous motion is detected, the camera may reactivate to continue recording.
  4. File Format: Recorded photos are stored as an AVI file on the camera's memory card for easy viewing.
  5. Monitoring: Use the camera's display to confirm motion detection and recording status.

Detection Range and Angle

  • Maximum Range: The sensor can detect movement up to 4 meters (approximately 13.1 feet).
  • Detection Angle: The sensor has a detection angle of 90 degrees, covering 45 degrees in every direction from its central axis.

For optimal performance, ensure that the area you wish to monitor falls within these parameters. Obstructions can reduce the effective detection range.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the sensor lens and body. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the sensor in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or crimping the sensor's cable excessively to prevent internal damage.

Troubleshooting

Sensor not detecting motion:
  • Check Connection: Ensure the 3.5mm jack is fully and firmly inserted into the camera's port. The connection can be tight, requiring a firm push.
  • Verify Compatibility: Confirm that your camera is a Brinno TLC200 or TLC200 f1.2 model. The ATM100 is not compatible with the TLC200 Pro.
  • Check Placement: Ensure the object or person you are trying to detect is within the 4-meter range and 90-degree detection angle.
  • Obstructions: Remove any objects that might be blocking the sensor's view.
  • Camera Mode: Power cycle the camera after connecting the sensor to ensure it enters motion detection mode.
Camera not recording after motion detection:
  • Memory Card: Check if the camera's memory card has sufficient space and is properly inserted.
  • Camera Settings: Review your camera's settings to ensure it is configured to record when motion is detected.
