Safety Instructions

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, injury, or fire.

  • Read all instructions: Familiarize yourself with the controls and proper use of the mixer.
  • Work area safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Electrical safety: Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool.
  • Personal safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • Secure the workpiece: Always ensure the material container is stable and secure before mixing.
  • Avoid overreaching: Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
  • Unplug when not in use: Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
  • Maintain tools: Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
  • Use the right tool: Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application.
  • Children and bystanders: Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.

Operating Instructions

Before starting, ensure you have read and understood all safety instructions.

  1. Material Preparation: Prepare the material to be mixed in a suitable, sturdy container. The mixer is designed for a mixable volume of up to 40 liters.
  2. Speed Selection: The Atika RL 1000 features variable speed control (0 to 1100 RPM). Adjust the speed control dial to the desired setting based on the material's consistency. Start with a lower speed to prevent splashing.
  3. Starting the Mixer:
    • Hold the mixer firmly with both hands using the ergonomic handles.
    • Immerse the mixing paddle into the material before switching on the tool.
    • Press the power switch to start the mixer.
  4. Mixing Process:
    • Move the mixing paddle slowly through the material, ensuring thorough mixing from bottom to top and sides to center.
    • Avoid hitting the sides or bottom of the container with the paddle.
    • For continuous operation, press the lock-on button while the power switch is engaged. To release, press the power switch again.
  5. Stopping the Mixer:
    • Before removing the mixing paddle from the material, release the power switch (or lock-on button).
    • Wait for the paddle to come to a complete stop.
    • Carefully lift the mixer out of the container.

Important: Do not overload the mixer. If the motor slows down significantly or the tool becomes excessively hot, reduce the load or stop operation to allow it to cool down.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Atika RL 1000 Mixer.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the mixer before cleaning.
    • Immediately after use, clean the mixing paddle and spindle to prevent material from hardening. Use water for water-based materials and appropriate solvents for other materials.
    • Wipe the motor housing with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
    • Ensure ventilation slots are free from debris to prevent overheating.
  • Storage:
    • Store the mixer in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
    • Protect the power cord from damage.
  • Inspection:
    • Periodically inspect the power cord for damage. If damaged, have it replaced by a qualified technician.
    • Check the mixing paddle for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Carbon Brushes: The motor uses carbon brushes. If the tool experiences reduced power or intermittent operation, the carbon brushes may need replacement. This should be performed by a qualified service center.
