Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Seiko QHR024SLH Classic Digital Travel Clock. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your new clock. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your device.
This digital travel clock features a clear display, a reliable alarm with snooze function, a built-in thermometer, and Global R-Wave (atomic time synchronization) capability for accurate timekeeping.
Setup
1. Battery Installation
Your Seiko QHR024SLH clock requires two (2) AA batteries for operation. These batteries are typically included with your purchase.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock.
- Carefully slide or lift the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert two new AA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the indicators inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Initial Time Setting
Upon battery installation, the clock will attempt to synchronize with the Global R-Wave signal. If synchronization is successful, the time will set automatically. If not, or if you are outside a reception area, you may need to set the time manually.
- Refer to the buttons on the side or back of the clock (typically labeled 'SET', 'MODE', '+', '-').
- Press the 'MODE' or 'SET' button to enter time setting mode.
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the hour, minute, and other settings as they flash on the display.
- Press 'SET' or 'MODE' again to confirm each setting and move to the next, or wait for the clock to exit setting mode automatically.
Operating Instructions
1. Time Display
The clock features a clear digital display showing the current time. Depending on the mode, it may also display the date or temperature.
2. Alarm Setting
To set the alarm:
- Press the 'ALARM SET' button (or similar, refer to your clock's specific button labels). The alarm time will begin to flash.
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the desired alarm hour and minute.
- Press 'ALARM SET' again to confirm the alarm time.
- Ensure the alarm ON/OFF switch (usually on the side) is in the 'ON' position for the alarm to activate.
3. Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the 'SNOOZE/LIGHT' button (often located on the top of the clock) to temporarily silence the alarm. The alarm will sound again after a few minutes (typically 5-10 minutes, depending on the model). To turn off the alarm completely, move the alarm ON/OFF switch to the 'OFF' position.
4. Thermometer
Your clock includes a built-in thermometer. The temperature is typically displayed alongside the time or can be toggled using a 'MODE' button. The display will show the ambient temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, depending on the selected unit.
5. Global R-Wave (Atomic Time Synchronization)
The Global R-Wave feature allows your clock to automatically synchronize with an atomic time signal, ensuring highly accurate timekeeping. The clock will attempt to receive this signal periodically, usually overnight. Factors such as location, building materials, and electronic interference can affect signal reception. If the clock fails to synchronize, it will continue to keep time using its internal quartz movement.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
To clean your clock, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the clock's finish and internal components.
2. Battery Replacement
When the display dims or the clock's functions become erratic, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the 'Setup' section. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AA batteries.
Troubleshooting
- No Display / Dim Display: Check battery installation. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Replace with fresh batteries if necessary.
- Alarm Not Sounding: Verify that the alarm time is set correctly and the alarm ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Time Not Synchronizing (Global R-Wave): Ensure the clock is placed in an area with good signal reception, away from large metal objects or other electronic devices that may cause interference. Try placing the clock near a window overnight. Manual time setting is always an option if automatic synchronization is not possible.
- Incorrect Temperature Reading: Ensure the clock is not exposed to direct sunlight or placed near heat sources, which can affect the accuracy of the thermometer.
