Model: BS0201060L

Introduction and Safety Information

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your BriskHeat XtremeFLEX BS0 Silicone Rubber Heating Tape. Please read all instructions carefully before installation and operation.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: A temperature controller is required for the safe operation of this heating tape. Failure to use a temperature controller can result in overheating, product damage, fire, or personal injury. This heating tape is designed for industrial and scientific applications and should only be used by qualified personnel.

The heating tape is moisture and chemical resistant and suitable for electrically conductive surfaces. Do not exceed the maximum exposure temperature of 450°F (232°C).

Product Overview

BriskHeat XtremeFLEX BS0 Silicone Rubber Heating Tape

Figure 1: BriskHeat XtremeFLEX BS0 Silicone Rubber Heating Tape. This image shows the flexible silicone rubber heating tape, which is wrapped around a metallic rod, illustrating its application for heating cylindrical objects or pipes. The tape has a distinct reddish-brown color and a textured surface.

The BriskHeat XtremeFLEX BS0 Silicone Rubber Heating Tape features a silicone rubber extruded outer sheath with a fiberglass knitted and braided construction, ensuring durability and flexibility. It incorporates a multi-stranded resistance wire for efficient heating.

Setup and Installation

  1. Inspect the Tape: Before installation, visually inspect the heating tape for any signs of damage, cuts, or abrasions. Do not use if damaged.
  2. Prepare Surface: Ensure the surface to be heated is clean, dry, and free from sharp edges that could damage the tape.
  3. Wrap the Tape: Carefully wrap the heating tape around the object or surface requiring heat. Ensure even contact and avoid overlapping the tape excessively, which can lead to hot spots. For optimal heat distribution, maintain consistent spacing between wraps.
  4. Secure the Tape: Use appropriate high-temperature tape or clamps (not included) to secure the heating tape in place, preventing it from unwrapping or shifting during operation.
  5. Connect to Controller: Connect the 2-prong power plug of the heating tape to a suitable temperature controller (sold separately). Ensure the controller's specifications match the heating tape's requirements (120VAC, 627 Watts).
  6. Grounding: Ensure proper grounding of the system as per local electrical codes.

Note: This heating tape is suitable for electrically conductive surfaces.

Operating Instructions

  1. Set Temperature Controller: Power on your temperature controller and set the desired operating temperature. Refer to your temperature controller's manual for specific instructions on setting parameters.
  2. Monitor Temperature: Continuously monitor the temperature of the heated object or surface to ensure it remains within safe and desired limits.
  3. Applications: This heating tape is ideal for a wide range of applications, including:
    • Heating laboratory apparatus
    • Gas tubing
    • Temporary heat applications
    • Valves and pipes
    • Freeze protection
  4. Power Off: When heating is no longer required, turn off the temperature controller and disconnect the heating tape from the power source.
