Setup

  1. Power Connection: Connect the provided AC power adapter to the DC 5V MINI USB port on the FiiO D3 (D03K). Plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  2. Digital Audio Input:
    • For Optical Input: Connect an optical Toslink cable from your digital audio source (e.g., TV, CD/DVD/Blu-Ray player, game console) to the "Optical In" port on the FiiO D3 (D03K).
    • For Coaxial Input: Connect a coaxial digital audio cable from your digital audio source to the "Coaxial In" port on the FiiO D3 (D03K).
  3. Input Selection: Use the switch on the bottom of the FiiO D3 (D03K) to select either "Optical" or "Coaxial" input, matching your connected source.
  4. Analog Audio Output:
    • Connect RCA audio cables (red for right, white for left) from the "L OUT" and "R OUT" ports on the FiiO D3 (D03K) to the corresponding analog audio input ports on your amplifier or self-powered speakers.
    • Alternatively, for headphone or 2.1 audio systems, use the 3.5mm sound output dock.
  5. Source Device Settings: Ensure your digital audio source device is configured to output audio in PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) format. The FiiO D3 (D03K) supports PCM only. Refer to your source device's manual for specific audio output settings.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once all connections are secure and the power adapter is plugged in, the "Power" indicator light on the FiiO D3 (D03K) will illuminate.
  2. Signal Lock: When a valid digital audio signal is received from your source, the "Locked" indicator light will illuminate, confirming a successful connection.
  3. Audio Playback: Begin playing audio from your digital source. The FiiO D3 (D03K) will convert the digital signal to analog, which will then be output through your connected amplifier or speakers.
  4. Volume Control: Adjust the volume using your connected amplifier or speakers. The FiiO D3 (D03K) does not have its own volume control.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound Output:
    • Verify all cables are securely connected to the correct input/output ports.
    • Ensure the FiiO D3 (D03K) is powered on (red "Power" light is on).
    • Check that the "Locked" indicator light is illuminated, confirming a digital signal is being received.
    • Confirm your source device's digital audio output is set to PCM format. The FiiO D3 (D03K) does not support DTS or Dolby Digital.
    • Make sure the input selection switch on the bottom of the FiiO D3 (D03K) matches the connected digital input (Optical or Coaxial).
    • Increase the volume on your connected amplifier or speakers.
  • Distorted or Poor Sound Quality:
    • Ensure all cables are in good condition and properly connected.
    • Check for any loose connections or damaged cables.
    • Verify that the power supply is stable and providing sufficient power (DC 5V).
    • If connecting to a TV, ensure the TV's USB connection is 1Amp; anything less may lead to static noise.
