Operating Instructions

1. Printing

  • Document Printing: From your computer, select "Print" from your application. Choose the Epson XP-600, adjust settings like paper size, quality (e.g., Standard, Draft, Fine), and select "2-sided printing" for automatic duplexing if desired.
  • Photo Printing: For optimal photo quality, use the dedicated photo tray and select appropriate photo paper settings in your print driver. The printer supports resolutions up to 5760 x 1440 dpi.
  • Direct CD/DVD Printing: Use the included CD/DVD printing tray. Place a printable CD/DVD in the tray and follow the on-screen instructions or software prompts to print directly onto the disc surface.

2. Copying

Place the document face-down on the scanner glass or use the automatic document feeder (if available). On the printer's control panel, select "Copy" and adjust settings such as number of copies, color/black & white, and paper size before initiating the copy.

3. Scanning

Place the item to be scanned on the scanner glass. From your computer, open the Epson Scan utility or other scanning software. Select scan settings (e.g., resolution up to 2400 dpi, color/grayscale, destination) and initiate the scan.

4. Mobile Printing

  • EPSON Connect: Register your printer with EPSON Connect to enable printing from smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices via email print or the Epson iPrint app.
  • Apple AirPrint: For Apple iOS devices, ensure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. Select the print option from your app and choose the XP-600.
  • Google Cloud Print: Register your printer with Google Cloud Print to print from Chromebooks, Android devices, and other web-connected devices.

5. PC-Free Operations

The XP-600 allows direct printing from memory cards (SD/MS) and USB drives via its built-in card slots and USB port. Use the 2.5-inch LCD touch panel to preview, select, and print photos directly without a computer.

Maintenance

1. Ink Cartridge Replacement

The printer uses individual ink cartridges. When an ink cartridge is low or empty, a message will appear on the LCD screen. To replace:

  1. Open the printer cover. The print head will move to the replacement position.
  2. Press the tab on the empty cartridge and lift it out.
  3. Unpack a new Epson 273-series Claria Premium Ink Cartridge and insert it firmly into the correct slot until it clicks.
  4. Close the printer cover. The printer will begin initializing the new ink.

Note: Only replace the color that is empty. Use genuine Epson ink cartridges for optimal performance and print quality.

2. Paper Loading

The XP-600 features a main paper tray and a dedicated photo tray.

  • Main Tray: Pull out the paper tray located at the bottom front of the printer. Load up to 100 sheets of plain paper (8.5 x 11 inches) or other compatible media. Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size.
  • Photo Tray: This smaller tray is designed for photo paper (e.g., 4 x 6 inches, 8.5 x 11 inches). Load photo paper print-side down.

Tip: Ensure paper is not curled or creased to prevent feeding issues.

3. Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. If print quality degrades (e.g., streaks, missing lines), perform a nozzle check and head cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu or the printer driver software.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Printer Not Responding/Offline:
    • Check power connections.
    • Verify Wi-Fi connection status on the printer and your network router.
    • Ensure the printer is selected as the default printer on your computer.
    • Restart the printer and your computer.
  • Paper Feeding Problems:
    • Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not exceeding the maximum capacity.
    • Fan the paper stack before loading to prevent multiple sheets from feeding.
    • Check for any paper jams inside the printer and carefully remove them.
    • Use recommended paper types and weights.
  • Poor Print Quality (Streaks, Faded Colors):
    • Check ink levels and replace any low or empty cartridges.
    • Perform a nozzle check and head cleaning cycle from the printer's maintenance menu.
    • Ensure you are using genuine Epson ink cartridges.
    • Verify that the correct paper type is selected in the print settings.
  • Slow Printing:
    • Adjust print quality settings to "Draft" or "Standard" for faster output when high quality is not required.
    • Ensure your computer meets the system requirements for the printer.
