DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120 Instruction Manual

Model: 918833-52030

1. Introduction

The DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120 is a versatile and indispensable helper for agricultural and forestry tasks. Designed for small tractors and vineyard tractors, its compact width of 1.20 meters makes it highly maneuverable. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Heckcontainer Basic 120.

It is ideal for transporting various materials such as grass and hedge cuttings, shredded material, green waste, leaves, and tools.

2. Safety Instructions

Important Safety Information:

  • Always ensure that all stated loads refer to evenly distributed loads. Avoid point loads, such as those caused by barrels, piles of earth, or concentrated weights.
  • Be aware that during tractor operation over uneven terrain, a static load can quickly transform into a significantly higher dynamic load. This dynamic load can exert multiple times the original weight on the three-point hitch and the Heckcontainer itself.
  • Any damage resulting from exceeding load limits or improper loading will automatically void the warranty claim.
  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during assembly, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the tractor's three-point hitch is correctly rated for the weight of the container and its maximum payload.
  • Before operating, verify all bolts, pins, and connections are securely fastened.

3. Product Overview and Components

The DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120 is delivered disassembled and requires assembly before use. Key features include:

4. Assembly Instructions

The DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120 is delivered in a disassembled state. All necessary bolts, safety pins, screws, and nuts for assembly are included. Follow these steps carefully for proper assembly:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully unpack all parts and verify against the packing list. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.
  2. Assemble Main Body: Connect the side panels to the base plate using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure all connections are tightened securely but do not overtighten until all parts are aligned.
  3. Attach Three-Point Hitch Frame: Secure the three-point hitch frame to the rear of the container using the designated mounting points. Pay attention to the correct orientation.
  4. Install Tilting Mechanism: Mount the tilting device. Ensure the safety lever mechanism is correctly installed and functions smoothly.
  5. Install Tailgate: Attach the tailgate using the provided pins. The tailgate can be configured to open upwards, downwards, or be completely removed. Ensure the pins are secured with safety splints.
  6. Final Tightening: Once all components are assembled and aligned, systematically tighten all bolts and nuts to their final torque specifications.
  7. Pre-Operation Check: Before first use, perform a thorough visual inspection to ensure all parts are correctly assembled, all fasteners are tight, and there are no obstructions or loose components.

5. Operating Instructions

The DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120 is designed for easy attachment and operation with tractors equipped with a Category I three-point hitch.

5.1 Attaching to Tractor

  1. Position the tractor with its three-point hitch aligned with the container's attachment points.
  2. Connect the lower lift arms of the tractor to the 19 mm pins on the container. Secure with safety pins.
  3. Connect the top link of the tractor to the upper attachment point on the container. Adjust the length of the top link to ensure the container is level or slightly tilted as required for operation.
  4. Ensure the mounting distance of the Category I hitch (40-49 cm) is compatible with your tractor.

5.2 Loading and Transport

  • Utilize the integrated scraping rail to facilitate easy loading of materials.
  • Always distribute the load evenly within the container. Do not exceed the maximum payload of 270 kg.
  • Avoid point loads. If transporting heavy, concentrated items, use dunnage to spread the weight across the container floor.
  • When transporting, drive cautiously, especially over uneven terrain, to minimize dynamic loads on the container and tractor hitch.

5.3 Unloading (Tilting Mechanism)

  • Position the container at the desired unloading location.
  • Engage the tilting device using the safety lever, which is operable from the tractor cabin.
  • Allow the container to tilt and discharge its contents.
  • Once unloaded, return the container to its upright position and secure the tilting mechanism.

5.4 Tailgate Functionality

  • The tailgate can be opened upwards or downwards by adjusting the hinge pins.
  • For complete removal, detach both sets of hinge pins and carefully lift the tailgate away.
  • Always secure the tailgate with safety pins when in use.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your DEMA Heckcontainer Basic 120.

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially when transporting wet or corrosive materials, clean the container thoroughly to prevent rust and material buildup.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all welds, bolts, pins, and the three-point hitch frame for signs of wear, damage, or loosening. Tighten any loose fasteners immediately.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts of the tilting mechanism and tailgate hinges as needed with appropriate grease to ensure smooth operation.
  • Paint Protection: The powder-coated finish provides good protection, but touch up any deep scratches or chips to prevent rust.
  • Storage: Store the container in a dry place when not in use to protect it from the elements.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Heckcontainer.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Container does not tilt smoothly.Lack of lubrication; bent components; debris in mechanism.Lubricate all pivot points. Inspect for bent parts and clear any debris.
Tailgate difficult to open/remove.Pins are stiff or bent; rust buildup.Clean and lubricate pins. Replace bent pins if necessary.
Excessive wobble when attached to tractor.Loose hitch connections; worn pins/bushings; incorrect top link adjustment.Ensure all hitch pins are secure. Inspect for wear and replace components if needed. Adjust top link for proper stability.
Visible rust spots.Damage to powder coating; improper storage.Clean affected area, sand lightly, and apply rust-inhibiting primer and paint. Store in a dry environment.
