Solo Stove Lite & Pot 900 Set Instruction Manual

Model: SS1-P1 | Brand: Solo Stove

Introduction

The Solo Stove Lite & Pot 900 Set is a portable, wood-burning camp stove system designed for efficient outdoor cooking. This set includes the Solo Stove Lite, a compact and lightweight stove, and the companion Pot 900, which nests perfectly with the stove for convenient transport. Engineered with a unique double-wall design, it promotes ultra-clean gasification and secondary combustion, resulting in a highly efficient burn with minimal smoke. Ideal for 1-2 people, this system utilizes natural biomass fuels such as twigs, leaves, pinecones, and wood, eliminating the need for canister fuels.

Setup

Setting up your Solo Stove Lite & Pot 900 Set is straightforward due to its integrated design. The stove and pot are designed to nest together for compact storage and transport.

  1. Unpack Components: Remove the Solo Stove Lite and Pot 900 from their nylon stuff sacks. The Pot 900 is designed to house the Solo Stove Lite when packed.
  2. Assemble the Stove: The Solo Stove Lite consists of a main burn chamber and a cooking ring. Place the main burn chamber on a stable, non-flammable surface.
  3. Position the Cooking Ring: Place the cooking ring on top of the main burn chamber. This ring directs the flame and supports your cookware.
  4. Prepare Fuel: Gather small, dry biomass fuel such as twigs, leaves, or pinecones. Ensure the fuel is dry for optimal burning efficiency and minimal smoke.

Operating Instructions

The Solo Stove Lite utilizes a highly efficient wood gasification process for cooking.

  1. Load Fuel: Place a small amount of dry kindling (e.g., small twigs, cotton balls, paper) into the burn chamber of the stove.
  2. Ignite Fuel: Ignite the kindling. Once a small flame is established, gradually add larger pieces of dry wood or biomass.
  3. Observe Secondary Burn: As the stove heats up, the unique double-wall construction will preheat air and feed it through vent holes near the top of the burn chamber. This creates a secondary combustion, burning off smoke and producing a hotter, more efficient flame. You will observe flames emerging from these upper holes.
  4. Place Pot: Once the stove is burning strongly and the secondary burn is active, carefully place the Pot 900 (or other compatible cookware) onto the cooking ring.
  5. Maintain Fire: Continuously feed small pieces of fuel into the stove through the opening as needed to maintain the desired heat. The stove is designed to burn fuel completely, leaving minimal ash.
  6. Boil Time: The Solo Stove Lite is capable of boiling 34 fluid ounces (approximately 1 liter) of water in 8-10 minutes, depending on fuel quality and environmental conditions.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and continued performance of your Solo Stove Lite & Pot 900 Set.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter with your Solo Stove Lite & Pot 900 Set:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Difficulty igniting or maintaining fire.Wet fuel, insufficient kindling, poor airflow.Use only dry fuel. Start with very small, easily combustible kindling. Ensure the stove is on a level surface and not obstructed, allowing for proper airflow through the bottom vents.
Excessive smoke.Wet fuel, insufficient heat for secondary combustion.Ensure fuel is completely dry. Allow the stove to reach optimal temperature for the secondary burn to activate fully. Feed smaller pieces of fuel more frequently rather than large, damp pieces.
Slow boil time or low heat output.Insufficient fuel, wet fuel, strong wind, pot not properly seated.Add more dry fuel. Position the stove in a sheltered area or use a windbreak (not directly against the stove to avoid overheating). Ensure the pot is centered on the cooking ring.
