Product Overview
The Wilton X-Large Icing Tip Set (Model 418-1704) is designed for decorating cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods with ease. This set includes three essential extra-large tips: one Star Tip #1M, one Flower Tip #2D, and one Round Tip #2A. These tips are compatible with standard piping bags and couplers, allowing for versatile decorating techniques.

Setup and Preparation
Unpacking
Carefully remove the icing tips from their packaging. Inspect each tip for any manufacturing defects or damage. Ensure all three tips (Star Tip #1M, Flower Tip #2D, Round Tip #2A) are present.
Attaching Tips to a Piping Bag
- Prepare the Piping Bag: If using a disposable piping bag, cut the end of the bag to create an opening large enough for the tip to pass through, but small enough for the widest part of the tip to sit snugly inside. If using a reusable bag, ensure it is clean and dry.
- Insert the Tip: Place the desired icing tip inside the piping bag, pushing it down until the narrow end protrudes from the cut opening. The tip should fit securely without falling out.
- Using a Coupler (Optional): For easy tip changes, insert the coupler base into the piping bag, push it through the opening, and then screw the coupler ring onto the outside to secure the tip.
- Fill the Bag: Fold the top of the piping bag down to create a cuff. Use a spatula to fill the bag with your prepared icing, filling it no more than two-thirds full. Twist the top of the bag to seal the icing.

Operating Instructions
The Wilton X-Large Icing Tip Set allows for various decorating styles. Practice on parchment paper before applying icing to your baked goods.
Star Tip #1M
The Star Tip #1M creates classic star shapes, rosettes, and swirled designs. Hold the bag at a 90-degree angle for stars or at a 45-degree angle for rosettes and swirls. Apply even pressure while piping.
Flower Tip #2D
The Flower Tip #2D is ideal for creating drop flowers, ruffles, and shell borders. For drop flowers, hold the tip perpendicular to the surface, squeeze, and lift straight up. For ruffles, hold at an angle and move along the edge.
Round Tip #2A
The Round Tip #2A is used for smooth lines, dots, beads, and filling in areas. Hold the bag at a 90-degree angle for dots or at a 45-degree angle for lines. Maintain consistent pressure for uniform results.

Care and Maintenance
Cleaning
After each use, clean the icing tips thoroughly to prevent icing from hardening inside. The tips are dishwasher safe for convenience. Alternatively, hand wash them using warm, soapy water and a small brush to remove any residue. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before storing.
Storage
Store the clean, dry tips in a clean, dry container or a dedicated tip organizer to prevent loss and damage.
Troubleshooting
Icing Not Flowing Smoothly
- Check Icing Consistency: Ensure your icing is the correct consistency for piping. If it's too stiff, add a small amount of liquid (milk, water, or corn syrup) and mix until smooth. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar.
- Clear Blockages: Check the tip opening for any hardened icing or debris. Use a small brush or toothpick to clear any blockages.
Tips Falling Out of Bag
- Secure Fit: Ensure the piping bag opening is cut to the correct size, allowing the tip to fit snugly.
- Use a Coupler: If tips frequently fall out, consider using a coupler to secure them more firmly to the bag.
