2. Safety Instructions

- Ensure the machine is placed on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water splashes and heat sources.
- Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Unplug the machine from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- Use only Nespresso coffee capsules with this machine.
- Do not open the brewing unit during operation. Hot water may be ejected.

The Nespresso U D50 consists of several key parts:
- Water Tank: Removable and rotatable (180 degrees) for flexible placement.
- Brewing Unit: Where the capsule is inserted and coffee is brewed.
- Coffee Outlet: Dispenses brewed coffee. Retracts to prevent dripping.
- Drip Tray: Collects excess liquid and can be removed for larger cups.
- Used Capsule Container: Stores up to 12 used capsules.

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
- Positioning: Place the machine on a clean, stable, and level surface. The water tank can be rotated to the side or back as needed.
- Rinsing the Water Tank: Before first use, rinse the water tank thoroughly with fresh drinking water.
- Filling the Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water up to the MAX level.
- Power Connection: Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet. The power button will illuminate.
- First Use / Rinsing Cycle:
- Place a container (at least 20 oz) under the coffee outlet.
- Press any of the three coffee buttons. The machine will start heating up (approx. 25 seconds). The lights will blink during heating and become steady when ready.
- Once ready, press the Lungo button (largest cup icon) to start the rinsing cycle. Repeat this process 2-3 times until clean water flows out.
- The machine is now ready for use.
5. Operating Instructions
Making Coffee:
- Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water.
- Place your desired cup on the drip tray. For larger cups, the magnetic drip tray can be removed.
- Open the brewing unit by sliding the top lever.
- Insert a Nespresso capsule into the opening.
- Close the brewing unit by sliding the lever back. The machine will automatically pierce the capsule.
- Select your desired cup size by touching one of the three illuminated buttons:
- Ristretto: Smallest cup icon (approx. 25 ml)
- Espresso: Middle cup icon (approx. 40 ml)
- Lungo: Largest cup icon (approx. 110 ml)
- The machine will begin brewing. Once brewing is complete, the used capsule will automatically be ejected into the used capsule container.
- Enjoy your Nespresso coffee.
Programming Cup Sizes:
The Nespresso U D50 allows you to program your preferred volume for each cup size:
- Ensure the machine is ready (lights steady).
- Insert a Nespresso capsule.
- Press and hold the button for the cup size you wish to program (Ristretto, Espresso, or Lungo).
- Release the button when your desired volume is reached. The machine will memorize this volume for future use with that button.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Daily Cleaning:
- Empty and rinse the drip tray and used capsule container daily.
- Wipe the machine exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
- Rinse the water tank regularly.
Descaling:
Descaling is essential to maintain the machine's performance and coffee quality. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. Refer to the Nespresso website or contact Nespresso Club for specific descaling instructions and descaling solution.
- Use only Nespresso descaling kit.
- Follow the instructions provided with the descaling kit carefully.
- Rinse the machine thoroughly after descaling to remove any residue.
7. Troubleshooting
