1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Beiter DC Power PK1270 24V Electric Scooter Battery Pack. This pack consists of two (2) 12V Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries designed for high capacity and reliable performance in electric scooters and similar applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation.
2. Safety Information
Your safety is paramount. Observe the following precautions:
- Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
- Ventilation: Always ensure adequate ventilation when charging batteries to prevent the accumulation of hydrogen gas.
- Short Circuit: Do not short circuit the battery terminals. This can cause severe damage to the battery and pose a fire hazard.
- Discharge: Avoid total discharging. Damage is done to the battery below 10.8V.
- Charging: Do not charge in a sealed container. Use a charger specifically designed for Sealed Lead Acid batteries.
- Temperature: Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and operate batteries within recommended temperature ranges.
- Handling: The high impact resistant battery case is made of non-conductive ABS plastic, offering strong resistance to shock, vibration, chemicals, and heat. However, handle with care.
- Disposal: Dispose of batteries responsibly according to local regulations. Do not incinerate.

3. Setup and Installation
The Beiter DC Power PK1270 battery pack is designed for easy, one-time installation. This 24V pack is comprised of two (2) 12V batteries that need to be connected in series to achieve the required 24V output for your electric scooter.
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the batteries from their packaging. Inspect them for any signs of physical damage. If any damage is observed, do not proceed with installation and contact customer support.

3.2 Connecting the Batteries
To create a 24V system from two 12V batteries, you must connect them in series. This involves connecting the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the other battery. The remaining free positive and negative terminals will then provide the 24V output.
- Ensure all connections are secure and tight to prevent arcing and ensure optimal performance.
- Always use appropriate insulated tools to avoid accidental short circuits.
- Our maintenance-free and valve-regulated batteries are designed for straightforward installation.

4. Operating Instructions
Beiter DC Power Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries are designed for reliable power output in various applications, including electric scooters.
4.1 Charging
Use a compatible charger for 24V SLA batteries. Refer to the charger's manual for specific instructions. The recommended charging parameters for a single 12V battery are:
- Standby Use: Constant Voltage Charge 13.6-13.8V, Initial Current 1.05A
- Cyclic Use: Constant Voltage Charge 14.5-14.9V, Initial Current 2.1A
Ensure the charger matches the 24V configuration of your battery pack.
4.2 Discharge
The valve-regulated, spill-proof design of these batteries allows for trouble-free, safe operation in any orientation. However, avoid total discharge below 10.8V per 12V battery to prevent damage and prolong battery life.
5. Maintenance
These batteries are maintenance-free. However, regular checks and proper usage will extend their lifespan.
- Replacement: Replace batteries every 3-5 years for optimal performance.
- Cleaning: Keep battery terminals clean and free from corrosion. Use a wire brush and a mixture of baking soda and water if necessary.
- Storage: If storing the scooter or batteries for an extended period, ensure the batteries are fully charged and stored in a cool, dry place. Periodically check the charge and recharge if necessary to prevent deep discharge.
6. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your battery pack, consider the following:
- No Power: Check all connections to ensure they are secure. Verify the charger is functioning correctly and the batteries are receiving a charge.
- Reduced Run Time: This could indicate aging batteries or incomplete charging. Ensure batteries are fully charged before use. If batteries are old (3-5 years), consider replacement.
- Overheating: If batteries become excessively hot during charging or discharge, immediately disconnect them and allow them to cool. Overheating can indicate a fault in the battery, charger, or an excessive load.
- Swelling/Deformation: Any physical deformation of the battery case indicates a serious issue. Discontinue use immediately and dispose of the battery safely.
