This manual provides important instructions for the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Holmes Low Profile Heater with Digital Controls, model HLH4422EE-WM. Please read all instructions carefully before using this appliance and retain for future reference.
Important Safety Information

Setup
Unpacking
Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain the packaging for off-season storage. Ensure all packing materials are removed from the heater before use.
Placement
Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) of clearance from walls, furniture, and other objects. Do not place the heater on soft surfaces like beds or rugs where openings may become blocked. This heater is designed for floor mounting.
Power Connection
Plug the power cord directly into a 120V AC, 60Hz electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords, power strips, or surge protectors. Ensure the outlet is in good condition and not loose.
Operating Instructions
Control Panel Overview
The digital control panel is located on the right side of the heater and features several buttons and LED indicators:
- Power Button (⏻): Turns the heater ON or OFF.
- Temperature Setting Buttons (↑/↓): Adjusts the desired temperature (65°F, 70°F, 75°F, 80°F, 85°F).
- Timer Button (⏱): Sets the automatic shut-off timer (4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours).
- Heat Mode Button (Heat Mode): Cycles through different heat settings (Max, Low, Eco).
Turning On/Off
- To turn the heater ON, press the Power Button (⏻). The heater will start operating in its default mode.
- To turn the heater OFF, press the Power Button (⏻) again.
Setting the Temperature
Once the heater is on, use the Temperature Setting Buttons to select your desired room temperature. The corresponding LED will illuminate to indicate the selected temperature (e.g., 65, 70, 75, 80, 85 degrees Fahrenheit).
Selecting Heat Mode
Press the Heat Mode button to cycle through the available heat settings:
- Max: Provides maximum heat output (1500 Watts).
- Low: Provides a lower heat output for less intense heating.
- Eco: Activates the Eco-Smart setting, which cycles between wattages to maintain warmth efficiently and save energy.
Using the Timer Function
To set the automatic shut-off timer, press the Timer Button (⏱). Each press will cycle through the available timer settings: 4 hours, 8 hours, and 12 hours. The corresponding LED will light up to confirm your selection. The heater will automatically turn off after the set time has elapsed.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Always unplug the heater from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not immerse the heater in water or allow water to drip into the interior of the heater, as this could create an electric shock hazard.
- For the grille area, use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust and lint.
Storage
When storing the heater, keep it in a cool, dry location. It is recommended to store the heater in its original carton to protect it from dust and damage.
